Sangh Parivar was in volved in the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi. The RSS took umbrage at this and
sought an apology from him as an alternative for le gal action. "Our case has been a follow up of our legal
notice." Mr Madhav said. The court summons to Mr Singh has been issued under Sections 499 and 500'
of the CrPC (criminal defamation). "We decided to pursue the case after Mr Arjun Sihgh said in a statement
that he would fight till the end and that he was will ing to make any sacrifice," Mr Madhav said. The
RSS has authorised the 'prant sarsanghachalak' Darshan Lal to take care of the case and pursue it on the
organisation's behalf, Mr Madhav added. (Statesman 30.12.04)
RSS journal lauds PM on UNSC stand (26)
New Delhi, Dec. 30: The RSS' journal, Panchajanya, for the first time, came out in open support of Prime
Minister Manmohan Singh for his assertion that India will neither agree to redraw its map nor accept UN
Secu rity Council permanent membership without veto power.'It can be mentioned that Dr Singh had given
his first major interview to Panchjanya after taking over as the Prime Minister of the country. The RSS
chief, Mr K.S. Sudershan, in a condolence message published in Pan chajanya went to state that former
Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao "would be always remembered in his tory for not allowing the security
forces from enter ing Ayodhya till the estab lishment of the Ram Lalla idol in the makeshift temple at the
disputed site." The RSS chief described Rao as a "great thinker and a lin guist." He also said that "like
Chanakya, he (Narasimha Rao) could kill two birds with one stone." However, referring to the Opposition
accusation that Dr Manmohan Singh was merely a "puppet on a string," the RSS mouthpiece stated, "No
matter how politically weak he might me, Manmohan Singh has done two right things." The mouthpiece
went on, "First ly, he made it categorically clear that there was no point accepting UN Security Council
membership with out veto power." The RSS mouthpiece maintained, "Bharat aisi koi apman-janak sthiti
swikar nahin karega (The Prime Minister made it clear that India will not accept such humiliating
situation)." (Hindu 31.12.04)
