ADDRESS OR PHONE UPDATES
If you have had a change of address or your
phone numbers have changed, please contact the
school with the changes. It is important that we
have the correct information on file in case of
emergencies.
HOLIDAY BREAK
There will be no school from December 24 -
January 1. School will resume
on Wednesday, January 2.

ATTENDANCE
We expect students to be in school and on time
every day that they are not sick or unable to
attend for serious reasons. There are many
positive benefits from regular school attendance.
If a student is absent from school, we need a
parent or guardian to call the school office (356-
2090) before 9:00 A.M. (The office is open at
6:30 A.M.) If we have not received a call by
that time, we will attempt to call a parent at
home or work. If your child is going to be
leaving the school during the day, please call the
school or send a note with your child. The child
must check out in the office when they leave and
check back in when they return. If someone will
pick up your child other than a parent or
guardian, the parent or guardian must still call or
send a note.
STORM PLAN
With the winter weather here,
please discuss with your
children what they should do if
school would be dismissed early. With over
1,500 students, it would be difficult for all of
them to make arrangements to leave so please
have a storm plan.
Fuel Up to Play 60 is a program founded by the
National Dairy Council and NFL in
collaboration with USDA that empowers
students to take charge in making small,
everyday changes at school. Students can win
cool prizes, like an NFL player visit or Super
Bowl tickets, for choosing good-for-you foods
and getting active for at least 60 minutes every
day. We want kids to make a difference not only
in their lives, but also their community.
FILL THE DOME
Thanks to the generosity
of students, parents, and
staff from Cheney
Middle School, we had
another successful Fill
the Dome food drive this
year. More than 3,000 items were donated to
this incredible, student-led event, which was
held at the Fargo Dome on November 19 -
20. At school, incentive parties were awarded to
Mrs. Brekke’s 6 th grade packer time (most
money collected - $30), Mr. Wolf’s 8 th grade
packer time (most items – 325), and Mrs.
Anderson’s 7 th grade packer time (best food
sculpture – Robot). The student council
members from Cheney were in charge of the
event, and sent representatives to the Fargo
Dome to arrange the food items. They made a
“Packer Bull” in their display. Thanks to all
who were involved!
MULTIGENERATIONAL PROGRAM
“PAY IT FORWARD” PICTURES
Mrs. Klabunde was the recipient of “Pay it
Forward” from Gus Stahl through Bell State
Bank and Trust. Part of the money is being used
to “Pay it Forward” to Mrs. Klabunde’s 6 th grade
students as well as Eventide (Moorhead) and
Sheyenne Crossing residents. Mrs. Klabunde’s
classes will make monthly visits to these nursing
homes. The relationships that develop through
this multigenerational program are amazing.
Thank you Bell State Bank and Trust and Gus
Stahl.
Cameron Cook: I’ve learned that you can
develop friendships no matter what the age
difference. I look forward to visiting Sheyenne
Crossing again.
Tainna Daniels: I have learned not to judge
people by their appearance. Take time to get to
know them.
Bre Gores: I look forward to going and doing
projects with them. I also enjoy learning about
them and their past.
EJ Langstaff: Just because they don’t know
about “new” stuff, you can still learn from them.
I like that we can share our talents and
knowledge with them, and they can share their
talents and knowledge with us.
