Four-Ball Stroke Play
Championship
April 26-27, 2004
Emerald Canyon Golf Course
72 Emerald Canyon Drive
Parker, Arizona 85311
(928) 667-3366
The site of AWGA’s Four Ball Championship
in 2004 will be Emerald Canyon Golf Course near
Parker. Known as “The Jewel of the Desert”, this
fascinating course has been carved out of
mountains and several holes have breathtaking
views of the Colorado River. Those who have
played the course will tell you that on one hole
one must become William Tell to accurately drive
the ball between two rock cliffs to a hidden green.
Several of the par 3’s have drops of some 100
feet tee to green. Placement and accuracy is a
must for partners to score well, and the course
should prove to be a challenge to all players.
While there, participants may enjoy
challenges of a different nature .... Blue Water
Casino bordering the Colorado River, where even
if you don’t gamble, you’ll enjoy the sheer beauty
of the desert meeting water.
To go to Parker, take I 10 going west out of
Phoenix; at Quartsite go north on AZ 95. It is
approximately a 2.5 hour drive from Phoenix.
Short Course Tournament
March 28, 2004
Palm Valley Golf Club
2211 N. Litchfield Road
Goodyear, AZ 85338
(623)935-2500
The Hale Irwin-designed Lakes Course was created to provide players
with a high-quality alternative to Palm Valley’s championship length Palms
Course. With a par of 62 and measuring 4,745 yards from the back tee, the
Lakes Course allows players to enjoy a fun and challenging round of golf in
considerably less time.
After exiting at Litchfield and turning right, you will encounter a golf
sanctuary like no other in the state. Palm trees line the street and plush
grass starts to twinkle just a few blocks away. Instead of a typical desert
course with rough desert terrain surrounding the fairways and greens, golfers
find transition areas; large shallow patches of firm sand await you on almost
every hole.
The Lakes is a perfect spot to hold a tournament that emphasizes the
short game. Club selection, pitching, chipping and putting will make the
difference. It may not be the longest hitter who wins this tournament.
