That has got to Hurt!
You’re a good sport Mr Wilson. The Wet Sponge Toss was one of the many stalls at last Saturday’s Fete. Students who targeted
Mr Wilson and Mr Asquith contributed $331 towards the overall profit on the day. That’s well over 300 wet sponges at $1.00 a
throw and three throws for $2.00. Good for you both!

Dear Parents,
The Biddabah School Fete happens every two years.
Because in 2010 we were building our school, that Fete
happened in April 2011. The Spring Fete is the most
important event in our fundraising calendar.
Mandy Swan and her fundraising team have been
working all year to give the school a great fete. Parents,
teachers and students spent many hours preparing for
the big day. There was plenty enthusiasm for the 2012
Twilight Fete and quite a lot of anticipation from the
children.
Remember: children must be 13 years of age
or older to create a Facebook account.
World Teachers Day
World Teachers Day was last week. Sorry I missed it
but I do believe it is important to recognise the
contributions of teachers and support staff in our
school and to bring them to your attention.
Dr Michele Bruniges is our Director General of
Education. She writes:
The Cake Stall raised $1082 WOW!
We certainly were not disappointed Saturday was just a
fabulous day. The weather was kind and the crowds
were fantastic. Everything just went so well it is a real
credit to Mandy and her team.
“World Teachers' Day is an international celebration to
acknowledge and express our appreciation to the great
teachers who give so much of themselves to educate
and care for our students.
It is a privilege to be part of this learning profession,
because good teaching really does matter. Education is
the gift we can pass on that will make the biggest
difference to people's lives; to their social, health and
economic wellbeing.
As teachers we share the commitment to put our
students at the heart of every decision we make about
their education, to help prepare them for an
increasingly diverse and technological world.
Our students are competing on a global stage and they
need new skills in order to take up further study and
jobs, many of which have not yet been created.
It is an important time for the teaching profession in
NSW and Australia, with new opportunities for teaching
and learning as we prepare for the introduction of a
national school curriculum.
Thank you to all the parents who organized, barbecued
worked on stalls and in the canteen. Thank you to all the
teachers and office staff for the hours of preparation
and for working on stalls and games of chance and
water.
I am sure that Mandy and the team will give us the
details of how well we all did
Teachers make an important contribution to students
and communities and for many teachers this
commitment does not stop when the working day ends.
I want to thank our highly qualified and motivated
teachers for the role they play in inspiring people of all
ages to develop a love of learning. I also acknowledge
our support staff for your dedication to our education
community.”

Would parents please check children’s hair for headlice.
If found, please treat the infection before returning
children to school. Information on headlice is available
on the NSW Health website.
The uniform shop sells a headlice spray preventative,
‘NitStuff’. A pamphlet can be obtained at the office.
OOSH NEWS!
We have kick started the term with some wonderful
dramatic play experiences first with our fairy castle
which has now been changed into a haunted mansion…..
The OOSH children have had loads of fun decorating the
castle and decorating our room into a haunted house!
We had many fun activities planned for the week such as
the mummy wrapping game, special effects make up, pin
the carrot on the pumpkin, Limbo and thriller dance, and
some history discussions on
the history of Halloween……..
I would also like to thank
the amazing ‘Suz’ who is the
creative genius behind this
fantastic OOSH service.
Suzanne continuously goes
out of her way to make this
the best OOSH ever and we are very grateful for her
amazing support. (Thankyou SUZ)!

stage assemblies GOLD and the DIAMOND will be
handed out by me at the whole school assembly,
probably in term 4. For students who go on to read for

at the last whole school assembly for the year.

As we have so many students banking now, the
processing of the banking takes quite a while for the
one wonderful volunteer that we have.
We are getting ready

A big thank you to all who supported our book sale last
week.
We raised $365, which will ensure more games and
activities for lunchtimes in the Library. Between 8:30 –
9:00 we sold most of the books. It was great to see so
many parents come along also.

Westlakes Junior Girls Netball Gala
Last Friday, year 3 and 4 girls participated in the
Westlakes Junior Netball Gala Day. The girls displayed
excellent behaviour and played all games with great
sportsmanship.
Thank You Rebel, Jessica, Paige and Charlie for

with transport, running the teams and supporting the

We have had a very successful year in 2012 with our
fundraising endeavours. We began the year with our
Easter Raffle which was a great success.
Entertainment Books were also popular this year.
Our Mothers Day and Fathers Day Stalls this year had
some beautiful gifts put together by Kellie Andriessen
and Di Grine. A big thank you to them both.
Our final fundraiser for the year was our Twilight
School Fete. A large crowd ensured a fantastic day was
had by all and could not have been achieved without the
support of our fete committee consisting of Michelle
Freund, Kerrie Keenan, Michele Crossley, Kellie
Andriessen, Sam Cross and Jo Campbell-Schmidt.
Their hard work and dedication resulted in a profit of
$17 000.
2012 has been a very successful year for fundraising
and couldn`t have been achieved without the support of
our dedicated volunteers, families, teachers and staff.
We are looking forward to a very profitable 2013.

purchase senior uniforms for 2013.
All your uniform requirements are available from the
Biddabah Uniform Shop. Please organise your senior
uniform during the month of November so you will be
ready for next year. Leaving your uniform decisions
until December may lead to disappointment due to
limited stock and limited uniform shop opening times
(volunteers also get busy at this time of year).
