ED’S NOTE
moving on
Life can only be lived forward and understood
backward. – Keiregaard
We are both hesitant to leave our hometowns,
homes, families and friends to venture into a new
world – a world far different from where we used
to. Some have become accustomed to this nomadic
way of living but some have not. We must continue
our journey. We must. But as years pass by, we
will soon understand that by going out, walking
on, pushing forward and starting a new– whatever
names one may give it – we learn, experience
and eventually change a part of us.
This school year is one of the exciting years of
TINGOG. We have a magazine, newsletter inserted,
as the first release for the school year, a
new adviser, Ms. Germarie Lamanilao CPA, the
former Editor-in-chief of TINGOG, new members,
and new people who comprise the Lasallian community
here. As the semester starts, we are also
sad to realize that some of the people have gone
away and pursued another paths to be trodden
off. They may be our friends, colleagues, mentors,
confidants, and special people.
We discover the struggles of students who have
shown exemplary effort and are the best in their
chosen fields whether in academics, co-curricular
and service. We together meet the new administrators
and get to know them more. We also
get to listen to the opinion of our fellow Lasallians
on music, the 111th Philippine Independence and
the infamous Constituent Assembly. Together, we’ll
read more.
But we’ll miss some of the important things from
our ordinary tabloid. For this release, we don’t include
the phenomenal Campus, Tabi-Tabi Po!, the
Column, and Funstuff. For the froshies, you’ll get a
taste of these on August 2009 tabloid.
We hope that we still long good years together
HAPPY
- adj. (happier, happiest)
- feeling or showing pleasure or contentment.
derivatives: happily adv. happiness n.
synonyms: joyous, joyful, cheerful, merry, blissful, satisfied
Yes. Happiness, isn’t it the answer to the what-do-you-want-in-your-life question
Or perhaps of the highest importance in our set of goals We all want to be happy.
It is by far the very reason why we continue to live our lives each day in search of
happiness, and wishes to live happy for the rest of our lives Sometimes, we think
of money, fame and fortune to be the keys towards achieving happiness. And we
seem to compete really well to be happy, yet at the end of the day we remain unhappy.
For many reasons, we cannot be happy all of the time. However, there are
people who are happy the way their lives are, and even surprising they are those
who live simpler lives than ours. You see, happiness is basically simple and supposedly
easy. It doesn’t take a genius to comprehend happiness so long as we don’t
look at it at a superficial level. Beyond its superficiality is the true meaning of happiness.
Sometimes we just need an open mind, love, friendship or perhaps vanilla
flavored ice cream to achieve happiness.
Never Hate
Hate is such strong word. We hate when we are harmed.
Most of the time, we hate for the wrong reason. Or we
hate because we don’t know how to forgive. They say it is
easy to forgive but it’s hard to forget. True. But to forgive
is still better than not having to forgive at all. Remember
that –give is in the word forgive. When we forgive, we give
people chances to make it up to us, to change or perhaps to
start anew. So never hate, instead forgive.
Don’t Worry
Aside from wrinkles and rapid ageing, depression is a killer
which is developed through too many worries. But the question
is, is it possible for us not to worry at all Apparently
yes, in fact people who don’t worry too much on problems
find the best and quick solutions to their problems. You see,
not worrying too much on things makes up a clear mind, a
happy state of being and a smile that adds up to more feasible
solutions to one’s problem. And if things are still going
bad, don’t worry because it wont last forever as things are
not permanent and as long as we continue to be positive.
Live Simply
To be happy is not to have all the luxuries we want, but rather
how we find happiness in the simple things that we have.
To dream for a more lavish life may not be harmful or hard,
but to live contented and happy is like living a dream. It is
when life is not complicated and living is a breeze. Whichever
lifestyle we are most comfortable with is where we find
more reasons to live and be happy.
Give a lot
Though the proverb “it’s better to give than to receive”
has been highly overrated, it is definitely true. If
the happiness we felt in receiving feels good to
the heart, then it does the same thing to the
person or entity we’ve given something.
Think of it this way. When we give,
we make someone happy. And
the happiness we feel in giving
is even more ultimate that in
receiving something. So, give
and make yourself happy.
Expect Little
Expectations are sometimes
created to become
our standards of success,
or as a means of satisfaction meter. When an expectation is reached
it would mean we succeeded or perhaps that we are satisfied. Yet
sometimes, we do not realize that as we expect too much, our standards
elevate to a much higher level, and as we fail in our pursuit to
achieve an expectation, we end up feeling like a failure. Or most of
the time, we fail to appreciate something because our expectations
were not met. We then become unhappy. Expect little instead, and
learn to appreciate.
Always Smile
“Frown and you frown alone, but smile and the whole world smiles
with you.” The proverb says pretty much of everything. If smiling
was a contagious disease which will make a person happy for the
rest of his life, would it be a good thing to get infected Happiness
is usually the stimulator of smiles. When one is happy, he exhibits it
through a smile. So always smile. Let the people around you know
that you’re happy and make them happy as well.
Stay in Love
They say love is a very powerful emotion, the most powerful perhaps.
Our literature, our lives, our songs and others are ruled over
by love. It is hard to define love and it may be defined differently.
But the most clear and probably most common definition of the
word is that it has the power to bind two people as one. But the goal
here is not to encourage you to marriage rather to remind us that
love doesn’t only bring happiness but also peace, hope and faith. If
we’ll stay in love and exhibit love, we make not only two but many
people as one.
Eat all you can
Although this may seem irrelevant to staying happy, I would beg to
disagree. Eating is the process of consuming food and turning
them into nutritional needs that our body requires for
growth. Eating for many of us is a feel-good habit, especially
when we get to eat the
food we love. You see, although
you may go on a diet but you
should never deny yourself
from eating, especially when
it makes you happy. Give
yourself a break, make yourself
happy and eat all you
can.
Make happiness not
just a word in the
dictionary or an
overrated statement.
Make happiness happen
to you today.
“A
CONTAMINATION
BY MAHALIA SULTAN
bear, a lion, and a pig were talking, who’s the most
feared
Bear: I growl and the forest trembles.
Lion: I roar and the jungle shakes.
Pig: I cough and the whole world panics.”
Ever heard or read some jokes such as the one above through friends or from forwarded text messages This isn’t a new issue
which causes worldwide concern. In fact, this is very familiar for it became the reason why classes started late in some schools
especially those who were directly affected by the transmittable flu. Well, you know what I’m pointing out, right Also known
as swine flu, Influenza A virus subtype H1N1 is define as an acute and highly contagious respiratory disease caused by a virus
strain of swine origin. The symptoms are much more likely similar with that of a regular or seasonal flu such as fever, cough,
sore throat, body aches, headache, chills, and fatigue. Nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea can also occur. On the basis of symptoms
alone, chances are less for one to distinguish swine flu from the regular one. Symptoms of A (H1N1) can also vary depending
on its severity among infected victims.
On the year 1976, swine flu first came to attention with the death of an army recruit. To date, WHO (World Health Organization)
pointed out that the largest number of victims are in Mexico and United States. Mexico recorded 6,133 infected people
of the virus with 108 deaths. It was said the virus also originated in Mexico
two months ago. One of the focal criteria for declaring a pandemic would
be established community spread in a country outside the first region
in which the disease was initially reported. That’s why last June 10,
2009, WHO declared swine flu pandemic because the number of
reported cases climbed up to almost 30,000 (27, 737 to be exact).
There were 141 deaths that were officially reported from 74
countries worldwide.
Taking a look at our country’s health condition with regard to
this concern, we have 247 confirmed cases of A (H1N1). We
got the highest number of cases in Southeast Asia. According
to Health Secretary Francisco Duque, “No deaths have been reported
and 85 of 247 A (H1N1) patients have been discharged
from the hospital.”
The knowledge about the undergoing and imminent swine
flu disease contamination, and growing number of reported
victims would somehow signal us to become
vigilant. Of course, there are easy ways for you to
avoid catching the flu. Here are some disease-fighting
habits you can take to stop swine flu from
taking its toll.
>>CREATING A BARRIER. Due to the continuous
spread of the disease, many people
are using preventive measures not to get
contaminated and the most popular is wearing
facial mask.
ALL
ABOUT
SWINE
FLU
Health officials say their count
of U.S. swine flu cases has surpassed
40,000, and deaths
have risen to 263.
The official scientific name for
swine flu [ its serologic classification]
is H1N1 Influenza A.
The H means hemagglutinin
and the N means neuraminidase
and the 1s refer to their
antibody type. Influenza A is a
genus of the Orthomyxoviridae
family of viruses, and
refers to the fact that the virus
is first identified in an animal,
usually a pig or a bird. When
put together, they describe
the 2009 swine flu virus.
Swine influenza was first
proposed to be a disease related
to human influenza during
the 1918 flu pandemic,
when pigs became sick at the
same time as humans. People
usually become infected
through contact with pigs, but
this new virus has mutated
enough to allow human-to-human
transmission.
Don’t
hate me
please!
Be cautious!
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends us to stay away from
sick people and those who appear sick. Those who always sneeze and cough
should be avoided as well for the virus can be transmitted from hand-to-hand
or hand-to-object contact. One should also refrain from touching the eyes,
nose, or the mouth because of the fact that virus spread in such a way.
Wash your hands often
You’ve learned since when you’re just a kid how important handwashing is;
US Naval Health Research Center would affirm to that idea. They have conducted
a study of 40,000 recruits who were told to wash their hands five
times a day. The findings would prove that handwashing should be given
much attention for the recruits really cut incidence of respiratory illnesses
by 45 percent. Carrying hand sanitizer with you is also very much helpful for
even if water isn’t available, or its still kilometers away, you can still clean your
hands.
Boost your immune systems
It is indeed true that people whose immune systems are weak can easily get
sick. We are advised to stay away with people who are sick but in case, just in
case you can’t avoid being with them, the best thing to do is to stay healthy.
You can stay healthy by practicing proper hygiene. Use a handkerchief when
you cough, or sneeze. Vitamin C can also be of great help in staying well.
Drink lots of water each day. Don’t forget the importance of exercise in your
body so get moving. Eat right and have enough sleep. By boosting your immune
systems, you can fight off infections more easily.
Relax
You may probably wonder why this is included in the list. But believe it or
not, having no relaxation can elicit a bigger chance for stress to arise and
stress can do you no good. Stress can challenge one’s immune system, so have
time to enjoy and set your worries aside. Stop blaming yourself if things went
wrong. Researchers find out that people with high stress levels are more likely
to experience colds and cough.
Follow the simple tips suggested above, and voila! Chances would be lesser
for you to catch flu during this season. Although I am not giving guarantees
here but they are proven ways to increase the probability of staying well. Prevention
is still way better than cure. Instead of taking a drug that would block
the influenza virus from spreading between cells in the body, why not just
consider the many habits to prevent a spell of the flu.
CONTEMPORARY
PHILIPPINE
MUSIC
Why
Over the years, music
in the Philippines has
evolved from the Kundiman
songs of before to
the alternative, rap and
pop rock songs of today.
Even tagalog hiphop tries
to start a new music lifestyle
in the country. Truly,
this change has created a
new hype in lifestyle of
the many Filipinos today.
While others may still be
into classical music from
the Apo Hiking Society,
Pilita Corales and artists
alike, a large number
of young Filipinos enjoy
the contemporary sound
brought about by popular
pinoy bands like Bamboo,
Spongecola and others.
In a battle between which
is more popular among
our generation, most of
us would conclude that
Philippine contemporary
music has a larger share in
the pie of popularity, but
when it comes to reputation
and lyric-wise standards
the classical genre
has it. So we asked a number
of Lasallians to articulate
which type of Philippine
music do they enjoy
It’s been a while since I wrote a feature article.
Honestly, my brain didn’t function well since it
had been a long vacation and I had no topic to
editor was pressing me for an article, I needed
recesses of my brain, I realized that I already
had one thing on my hand! That’s nursing!
Why nursing Maybe it is because many of us
have a lot of misconceptions about the nursing
course. Maybe it is because there is far too interesting
in a nursing course that meets the eye!
As I unravel this article of mine, some thoughts
are about to get in contact
with. Well this might be
true, but the word is
not “maarte”; it is cautious.
There are lots
of microorganisms
which might cause
certain illness in
our environment
and as
health care
providers it
is best to
take care of
ourselves
so not to
c o n t a m i -
nate or harm others. You might not know what you are in
contact with.
BIG EYEBAGS+ LACK OF SLEEP= STRESS. If you are like us,
you will get use to this. Imagine a 11pm-7am shift It’s pretty
much tiring and stressful too! Plus you are not allowed to take
naps or sleeps during duty hours, so that will explain your
eyebags and lack of sleep.
When your at school, it is still quite the same. You sleep late
doing reports, studying and making NCP’s for your patients.
In a few weeks, you will look like the model from you know...
Stresstabs! This course is the perfect combination of stress
and more stress. But, if you love the course then that would
not be a problem.
GRADES AND HEARTBREAKS. They say, breaking up with
your love is hard (sob), but I tell you failing a subject and
retaking it is more heartbreaking! You see, this explains why
eyebags and stress govern our course. You take the risks if you
fail a subject or two, and the worst part is you will have to
suffer it again!
The subjects in our course are not that hard. But these do
not mean, they are easy either. All you have to do is be a
good and diligent student. Surely, you will succeed.
CARING IS LOVING. We are pretty much loving people. We
care for the sick and lonely, so we understand what some
patients feel. We give them a chance of happiness for their
wellness. It is a part of a therapy other than the medicines.
Empathy and sympathy are always our main
agenda when it comes to care.
Unlike the misconceptions
of snob
and grouchy as said by other people, the LSU nurses are
different. We are trained in the light of the Lasallian virtues
plus we are taught well on how to deal with others. So these
misconceptions are really not true (though these might be
true to some).
There are still many good qualities that nurses and student
nurses alike do have. These are just some of the generalized
ones which make the students in white different from the
other programs. A nursing course is not just about the fat
paychecks coming over from a distant land. It is about caring
people and making them well holistically.
Nursing is fun and cool yet stressful and tiresome. If you
would have just a day to be like us, you will know why.
But for now, I hope your eager minds are filled with a few
knowledge about our course and the people behind it. Next
time you meet a someone in white with eyebags and a face
still smiling as if nothing has happened, try to ask…are you
Optimism is always a trademark of Filipinos. There is always a ready smile plastered on a brown man’s
Don’t Dance with the Philippine Government
How many EDSA’s did we have Three, and do you want to go on to the fourth
fifth This will go endless. Stop ranting. So shut up. Listen and think on the real
scenario. Is our case the worst case in the history of governance No. In this point
of time, not yet. We worry much on the corruption and greed of the elected officials.
But look at this, we don’t worry much if we got something “extra” from
our tuition. Don’t lose hope yet. We still can change the turnout of events. We
can change it by ourselves. Idealistic, isn’t it But there are simple things. Follow
simple rules in traffic, school and in society. Keep Right, No Entry, No U-turn,
and No Left Turn are some of them. If it says, No Entry, then you shouldn’t
Stop Global Warming!
Hey, the doomsayers said that we only have few
years left to linger on this planet. I think Hollywood
has given enough samples for apocalypse
- those aliens saving the world, tsunamis,
and endless winter nights that could freeze the
entire New York City etc. You know what; it’s
not just global warming. It’s global warning! It’s
not too late though. There’s still H-O-P-E we
can cling unto. We can take part in Earth Hour,
cleanliness drives in our local communities like
cleaning beaches, canals, and rivers. Recycle if
you have to. Bring your own bayong instead of
asking for plastic bags when going to the market.
If you want show some love, get out of
your house, move your body, and sweat for the
Worry no more, A(H1N1)
This pandemic is not as worse as we can imagine. This won’t transform us to witless
zombies scavenging for fellow humans to eat and tear. Take note, it’s not as
bad as dengue. But this doesn’t mean that you can just roam around without minding
your own health. Don’t buy the popularity rating as courtesy from the endless
media hype. Blame it to the endless search for the popularity rating of the TV
networks. Put in mind that this isn’t the only problem that the country is facing
right now. There are more significant societal issues clogging in the country like
economic recession, the CHA-CHA or ConAss, 2010 Elections, higher tuition fee
etc. Just don’t PANIC!
70% Passing Rate, Chicken
Cram. You’re doing this every time there are quizzes – ambushed or announced,
exams, overdue assignments and projects. If you’ll flunk, remember the lines from
a famous noodle commercial, “Anong sabi ni Nanay Tomorrow’s another day!” Anyway,
you have your time, money and effort to spend. Make sure that if you overstay at
school, you have used all the facilities and got your money’s worth.
I may sound cheesy to quote this line from a song “smile though your heart
is breaking”. Optimism will help people realize and believe in themselves, in
people around them, and dream. But don’t just smile or laugh without any
reasons at all because that’s the other story.
Lives
College life is not entirely about going in and out of classes or
about endless meetings of the organizations. Believing that college
is entirely about academics – pouring endless hours in the
library, ceaseless overnights on assignments and projects – is
narrow-minded. You’ve got to loosen up, help some friends and
classmates and join in some friends in the organization. College
life is about balancing both academics and co-curricular activities.
There are students in this university who rave and find worthy lessons
which can’t be found in a conventional boxed setting. They
defy the ordinary definition of students and persons alike in a
boxed world where they excel well.
There’s no easy way for a student
leader to fully serve and
at the same time study. Things
must always be in balance, time
must always be managed, and
in some instances, personal
matters must be set aside in the
service of the fellow students.
But all these and other endeavors
are all taken by heart with
La Salle University’s Student
Supreme Council President,
Mr. Eulogio Fajardo so as to
truly fulfill his duty.
A student leader since then,
Mr. Fajardo believes that serving
has always been his passion.
As he witnessed things during
his first year here in LSU as a
Bachelor of Science in Computer
Engineering student, he
immediately had this desire to
become a part of the student
leaders’ circle. With the dedication
he showed in helping his
college with all its activities,
Mr. Fajardo was appointed to
become one of the leaders of
ACES (Association of College
of Engineering Students) when
he became a sophomore. There,
he was able to join numerous
leadership training seminars,
which according to him had
really made him grasped the
truth behind successful leadership,
and that is, for one to
become a good leader, he must
first become a good servant.
The things he had during that
one-year service also widened
A
STUDENT
LEADER’S
Life
16 tingogmagazine
Mr. Fajardo’s eyes not only to the bright side of his
chosen path but also to the downside of it. There,
he savored the bittersweet experiences such as being
the source of information to everybody particularly
the students from his college, the one being relied
of things, and then later being put to blame if everything
wouldn’t work as expected. But these and
other inevitable conflicts in a student leader’s life
didn’t shake even a bit of Mr. Fajardo’s aspiration
to serve.
On his fourth year stay here in La Salle University,
he gave another year of service as an appointee of
the Student Supreme Council (SSC). It was the time
when Mr. Fajardo revealed his immeasurable efforts
and deep dedication before the student body’s eyes
as he would be seen actively participating in every
activity held by the council. These and the trust he
gained out from his genuine service to the whole
community of LSU then finally brought to where he
is right now.
“All I wanted was to serve my fellow students in any
good way I can, and I never had the idea of becoming
the SSC President one day.” This is one of the
statements of Mr. Fajardo during our interview.
Elected last March 2009, Mr. Fajardo started
his role as the SSC president by joining in numerous
Lasallian activities both within and
outside the city during the summer vacation.
At those days, he attended the Leadership
Training Seminar Workshop held in LSU as
one of the facilitators. After such, he was
sent by the school to Bislig City, Surigao Del
Sur together with other Lasallians to join the
RTV13 (Return to Vaugirard 13). He also
joined the Lasallian Youth Commission
Executive Committee Seminar
Workshop at La Salle Greenhills,
Mandaluyong City.
As Mr. Fajardo would say,
the fun he got out from the
travels he had was nothing
compared to the life-changing
realization he was able to
capture those days, “Being a
student leader nurtured by
Lasallian virtues is an experience
far different from the rest.
It does not only develop your
leadership skills alone
but more importantly
you as a person.” Mr.
Fajardo shared that one
thing he considers the
best about being a student
leader of La Salle
is that one is able to
help to those who are
really in need through
community extensions
held by the school.
All I wanted was to
serve my fellow
students in any good
way I can, and I never
had the idea of
becoming the SSC
President one day.
- Eulo Fajardo
Aside from those, Mr. Fajardo also expressed his gladness of
being given the chance to learn things from other Lasallian student
leaders he was able to spend moments with during those
events. He also said that there are so many things one can learn
from being a student leader that can never be learned by merely
attending classes.
From those experiences he had, Mr. Fajardo is now able to
know that there’s so much more about being a student leader.
One’s responsibility is not isolated within the corners of the
campus he is leading. To be a student leader is to be a servant
of the community and the whole nation as well.
These together with the other learning he
had have now built Mr. Fajardo as an
ideal leader for all LSU’s students.
Mr. Fajardo summarized everything
by saying, “Lasallian is a lifestyle
everybody must have, and one way
to live such is through being a Lasallian
student leader.” This young
man with so much service to give
also encourages all the Lasallian
students to take efforts to rise
from apathy for he believes
that this will be the foundation
for a better change
to the whole Lasallian
community.

SIDES
The struggles of a performing artist and an
exemplary student
THE BEGINNING
Wearing elegant make-up, high heels, and a sexy top paired
with skinny jeans, Ted entered the stage as Thalia Marimar,
a beautiful and hardworking woman. With great skill and
talent, he perfectly exuded feminine qualities that won over
the crowd. “Performing is my passion,” Ted said. He first
entered the stage when he was still a freshman. He performed
for the Welcoming Day of their batch, and also for
the CHED visitation which was attended by the commissioners
and school principals from all over Misamis Occidental.
“It was an achievement to become a front line performer
during my early years in La Salle,” he added. Since
then, he stayed committed and fell more in love with the
Performing Arts.
THE PRICE TO PAY
Ted admitted he struggled with hectic schedules before.
“It was a bit difficult at first, after learning different lessons
from each of my subjects I had to rush to the theater
room for rehearsals.” When asked about the adjustment
18 tingogmagazine
he had to make, Ted answered,
“I had to manage
my time well for both
my academics and for the
Teatro Guindegan, so I spent
every 3:00-5:00 p.m. on
Mondays, Wednesdays and
Fridays for rehearsals. The
rest of my free times were
going to researching and
studying lessons.” Ted also
shared that during classes
he would see to it that he
really understood the lessons
discussed so that he
didn’t have to study much.
“It’s not true that extracurricular
organizations
would put your academics
at stake. It would actually
help you realize great lessons
in life,” Ted stressed.
The stage is my
inspiration. As what
we believe in Teatro
Guindegan, the hidden
sanctuary of our
emotions and feelings
is the stage where we
perform.
- Ted Tac-an
ies,” he said. He was also appointed as the stage
manager of the Teatro Guindegan. He is serving the
organization to choreograph dances, direct plays
and ensure that each member remains committed
to the organization. “It is my job to meet the expectations
of these talented and intelligent members
and at the same time maintain good relationship
among members of the organization,” Ted
affirmed.
THE BEST PART
“I consider attending to prestigious theater workshops
nationwide and meeting famous theater directors
as my greatest achievements as a performing
artist,” Ted explained. The group rehearsed two
short plays, “See you Later” and “The White Cloth”,
WINNING THE
STRUGGLE
Despite the difficulties he
encountered, Ted managed
to become an honor
student for three consecutive
school years. “It was
a great pleasure because
despite the hustles of my
busy schedule I still managed
to focus on my studwhich
were written and
directed by Ted. The plays
were performed in front
of 15 well-known theater
icons and directors. “It’s a
blessing to be a performing
artist, that’s why I’m
doing my best so that my
works will also be a blessing
to my audience.”
THE END
It was a great honor to
speak with such a talented
and smart person like
Ted. Out from the experiences
and struggles that
he had gone through, he
demonstrated an icon of
excellence. He fought for
his passion - performing.
On top of that, he managed
to be an outstanding
student. In life, there
will always be struggles,
especially in doing things
we love. But it is up to
us whether we choose to
play it safe, or take risks
and learn great lessons in
life which will never be
learned from books.
“Give to the school what is due to the
school and to the students what is due
to them.” This line was from Br. Antonio
Cesar Servando, FSC, the former
Vice-President for Administration,
and is dedicated to all working
scholars in this university. This line
serves as the working scholars’ living
reminder for them to effectively
do their responsibilities. Speaking of
which, I know of a particular working
scholar who takes this word with due
commitment and fulfillment. He is
Mr. Perfecto Timbao aka “Perfect”.
Exaggerated as it may seem, but Mr.
Timbao is reasonably a man of true
service and genuine dedication. Thus,
giving to the school what is due to the
school is certainly what he does.
Inarguably, working at the same time
studying is indeed never an easy thing
to do. Perennial stress and pressures
would by far be running after you.
But, Mr. Timbao could not help the
need to work to continue his education.
Like all working scholars, financial
difficulty is the very reason
why he is now continually grabbing
the scholarship opportunity, though
risks and sacrifices are inevitable and
likely to come around. “I am already
a working student even before when
I was just in grade 3. Hence, I’m already
used to work and study under
pressure,” said Mr. Timbao. He
-PERFECTO TIMBAO
comes from a broken family much less
being economically challenged. At a very
young age, he experienced being left by
his father. Thus, only his mother, who is
incapable of landing a good job because
of poor educational attainment, looked
after him. But at present, he is away from
her. However, this bitterness does not impede
Mr. Timbao to continue dreaming.
Rather, he still clings to hope and continues
to believe that every cloud has a silver
lining.
June 2007 marked the beginning of
Mr. Timbao’s journey towards greater
achievements in life. He was enrolled in
as a working scholar in La Salle University
taking up Bachelor of Science in Business
Administration major in Financial Management.
St. Benilde rooms 312 and 313
plus the veranda were his first areas of
concern where he had to wake up as early
as 4:30 in the morning just to make it certain
that the rooms were clean, and that
we, students, could have a better place for
learning. During this time, Mr. Timbao’s
sincere dedication to work was already
manifested. He already showed a working
performance that was larger than life.
In fact he was given such a remark that
among the SB rooms, his got the cleanest
area.
During the school year’s second semester,
Mr. Timbao was assigned at the La Salle
offices specifically the Languages, Social
Sciences, Math and Science departments.
Shortly after, he was promoted as the LS’ area
leader. This time, his work was supposed to be
only monitoring his co-working scholars in the
said building, but since there was less number
of working scholars, he remained cleaning the
same offices, and monitoring his members. “I
was grateful to be promoted as an area leader
because it somehow implied that my superiors
were happy with my performance. However, I
could not help myself to be worried that time
because it also meant another level of expectation,”
he revealed. Mr. Timbao had been in his
position for quite a time. Most likely his promotion
motivated him more to work harder.
Besides, in the school year 2007-2008, he was
also elected as a P.I.O. of the working scholar
organization which only proves his definite
passion to serve.
June 2009, just last month, a big change had
happened to Mr. Timbao’s life as a working
scholar. He was actually promoted as the team
leader of the men working scholar which means
to say that he is now the leader of all area leaders
and men working scholars. This big promotion
really took him by great surprise. “Never
did I expect this to happen to me. I was truly
overwhelmed the moment the decision was
given. But then again, this calls for another set
of challenges to face. I just hope that God will
help me as He always does.” he confessed during
the interview.
Currently, he is now doing his best efforts to
be a good leader to the men working scholars.
It’s difficult, he admitted it but he
would take the big challenge. “To
all men working scholars, I really
need your help and full cooperation
this time. Let’s help one another in
giving to the school what is due to
the school. Let us work hand in
hand to bring back the good image
of the organization. Let’s prove to
them that the working scholars of
today are more responsible than of
yesterday. Yes, I believe we can do
it because I believe in each one of
you!” Mr. Timbao’s heartfelt message
to his co-working scholars.
Indeed, Mr. Timbao is as busy as
a beaver. Now, you might wonder
about his academic performance.
Well, if he has been working his
fingers to the bone as a working
scholar, the same is true as a university
student. Though he is not
that really academically inclined,
but he justly makes it a point that
his study is not forsaken. That is
to say that he always allocates time
for his study to cope with the university’s
academic standard.
Indeed, a man with a true passion
to serve is a man worthy to
be proud of. On behalf of the
men working scholars, I would like
to say that to you, Perfect, we are
truly proud!
As a student, who would not want to have
good grades There’s no other great satisfaction
than to see your grades all in the line
of 1. I know it’s not that easy to achieve. It
takes a lot of hard work and endless days
and nights of studying. But you can if you
will. It’s just a matter of setting up priorities,
knowing your capacity, and believing in
yourself. Some may excel in academics because
of the innate intelligence they inherited
from their parents so it’s easy for them to
handle all their subjects. Some may also excel
in academics through their efforts and determination
in order to become an excellent
student. Lucky for this 20-year-old achiever,
May Christine Aguilar, to have these factors
all in one. Her inherited intelligence plus her
determination and intrinsic motivation made
her way to excel in the field of academics.
May Christine, also known as Mec Mec by
her friends, showed her potentials of being
an achiever by the time she started going to
school. She was accelerated from Kinder I
to Grade 1. During her elementary years, she
became a consistent first honor and graduated
as the class valedictorian at Sebac Elementary
School. “It feels good every time
you were at the stage, given ribbons and medals
and seeing your parents proud of you”,
she said with a big smile. At first, receiving
gifts as rewards from her parents served as
her motivation to excel and be in the honors
list always. But then an unexpected event
happened that made her become more motivated
to excel in her studies. That’s when
her father died because of a blood disease.
She can still remember the last moment her
father hanged the medal to her neck during
her fourth grade Recognition Day. Seeing her
mother greatly affected with the incident, it
became her intrinsic motivation to make her
mother proud of her through performing
best in academics. She believed that in that
way she can help her mother to be happy
and move on with their lives.
During her high school years, she continued
her habit on studying and be on top of the
class. She remained a consistent first honor
and received the highest award as the class
valedictorian during her graduation
day at Clarin National High
School. As her intellectual aspect
is at its peak, she admitted that her
social skill was not totally developed
since she’s not the kind of girl who
used to socialize with other people
and hang out with friends into nonschool
related activities. “At that
time, all I have in mind is to make
my mom happy as I do and manage
almost all of the household chores.
I never really had spent time being
with my friends after school hours.
I know I have the intelligence but
I feel I’m aloof and at some point
felt insecurities during that time,”
she shared. But later on, Mec Mec
came out from her shell when she
started joining different clubs in
their school. She attended different
seminars and camps and found new
friends because of school activities
held in various places. Above all,
serving God has been part of her
life since she became a choir member
of the school and Church.
Entering college life offered new
challenges for this young future
educator. Because of curiosity and
encouragement of her mother with
the beauty of teaching, she decided
to take up Bachelor of Elementary
Education major in Special
Education instead of pursuing
her dream of becoming a doctor.
Looking back on her four
years of stay in the University,
she saw the different changes
she had undergone since she
first stepped in the campus.
She realized that being excellent
only in academics is not
merely the way to develop her
total personality. Since she’s a
member of the choir before,
she joined Yano og Aktibong
Pagpangalagad Alang sa Katilingban
(YAPAK), now
Lasallian Youth Corps
(LYC), and became the
president when she was
a sophomore. She also
joined the Peer Facilitators
club, in which she
became the president, to
extend a helping hand and
share her knowledge to the
academically challenged
students and at the same
time to gain new friends.
There were times when she
became a speaker on behavior management for student
catechists and she realized that she has the ability to
speak in the crowd and to catch the attention of the
listeners.
During her second year, she ran for SSC President.
Already gained a name to the students in the campus
and many believed to her capacity, she was elected for
the position for the School Year 2007-2008. But she
only served the student body for few months since she
stepped down from the position for a variety of reasons.
She had health problems. She had misunderstanding
within her family and problems with her personal
life. Mostly, even her academics were affected. “I feel
I’m bombarded with so many confusions and problems
at that time. But one thing was truly clear to me at that
point, I’m not happy anymore. I found myself and my
total personality deteriorating as I let myself be controlled
by other people’s expectations and desires and
not by my own. At first, it felt so hurtful knowing that
most of the people turned away from me because of
that decision. But later on, I was profoundly thankful
for it as I’ve known myself better and accepted who
I totally am making me joyful to continue striving to
become my best self,” said Mec Mec. One good factor
about this young achiever is that having down moments
was not a hindrance for her to pursue her dreams and
continue with her life. God has been her ultimate inspiration.
Her true friends and her family, especially her
mom, are the greatest influence in her life.
As a student with a gift of intelligence, Mec Mec admitted
that she had also experienced
struggles before.
One of her struggles is
being treated as selfish
by her classmates
and friends because
she can’t be cheated
during tests and
exams. “I did it
because I have my
one deepest value
which has inculcated
into my
being since I
was a child and until now – that’s the
value of honesty. This is the value
that I live for which I consider a part
of strengthening my character.”
Being a very grade-conscious learner,
it’s not surprising if we always see her
name on the list of achievers posted
on different bulletin boards. Mec Mec
said she had the habit of studying early
in the morning. She believed that this
learning style is the most effective for
her. We may often wonder if there’s
more to her life than just academics.
But she shared that she still manages
to have a love life. And having more
than just a passion for academics, she
also has a big heart of helping and
serving others.
This candidate for Magna Cum Laude
has what it takes to become a true Lasallian
achiever. She proved that she
can be excellent not only in academics
but also in serving others. With
brains and personality like hers, she’s
prepared and not terrified as she faces
a new chapter in her life as the time
draws her near to graduation day. Mec
Mec is due to graduate this October
2009. It would still be tough but she’ll
be ready for the board exams for she
arms herself with knowledge and
good set of attitudes. “Being an honor
student is not different from those
who are not. One great factor that is
truly important in life is not in the position
or honor you have, but it’s in
your great desire and perseverance of
discovering and acknowledging your
own beauty as a total person and striving
to become better person each day
of your life – not for yourself alone
but for the lives of those around you.
Only then you could realize the real
meaning of life and could find the
true fulfillment as an individual person.
It’s not just who you become but
how others become because of you.
As an honor student, this is one
of my greatest learning which
I truly lived for along with my
years of studying here in LSU,”
Mec Mec shared. She added,
“I believe that each one of us
is unique. Each one of us has
magnificent set of abilities and
talents. Work on what
you are truly capable
of and excel on it. Most
importantly, just believe
in yourself.”
BY CHELOU MUGOT & DANDIE SOMOSON
Being a university student, as we believe, is one
of the most tiresome occupations on earth. Along
the course of our studies, enormous pressures are
likely to confront us upon meeting the bombarding
requirements set by our teachers. This is true
to a university student. But what do you think
is it like to a student who is a consistent dean’s
lister Indeed such a student is worth commending
because to be an honor student, it really takes
an elbow grease. But how about an honor student
who at the same time is a student leader Most
likely, such a student is brilliant enough to excel in
curricular and extra curricular domains. Proud to
say, there are many of them here in La Salle. But
have you ever met a student who is a dean’s list,
a student leader and a proud single mother We
bet you haven’t, but yes, here in La Salle we have
that magnanimous student. We bring to you Ms.
Karen Eve Lalis, a mother and a student worth
emulating!
“With the kind of life and personality I had, never
in anyone’s slightest thought that I would end
up this way – being a single mom,” she quipped.
An academic achiever since then, people saw Karen
as a girl of firm principle and deep conviction
to finish her studies. She used to live a life that revolved
between home and school. With this kind
of focus she had, she was able to earn various
honors and awards all throughout her elementary
and high school years. During these days, Karen
was barely seen socializing with other people. In
fact, even after high school, this girl had never ex-
perienced having a romantic relationship with
the opposite sex. With a reserve and modest
personality she portrayed, no one had ever
imagined Karen to be the kind of girl she
became when things around her suddenly
changed.
Karen’s life-changing experience started days
after her high school graduation when she
was not able to pursue a college education
and to earn a living became her prime priority.
At first, she worked as a sales person in
one of the drugstores at Oroquieta. There,
everything went the usual until she received
a message from her aunt that there was a job
waiting for her in Manila.
With great joy and high hope, Karen immediately
took what she believed was a big opportunity.
However, when she arrived at Manila,
there was nothing waiting for her – no job to
do and no money to earn. This incident became
the turning point of Karen’s life.
“Living
there
was never easy, it was terribly difficult. So,
instead of wasting my time and effort in
coming there, I decided to find a job myself.”
Maybe it was the game of fate that made
Karen come across this certain Promotion
Agency which offered a job in Japan.
To Karen, it was all that she needed. By
the time she was in deep need, there was
an agency that offered her a chance to
get hired in a high-paid job. So with no
doubts at all, Karen underwent all the
things she had to take as part of her job
training. Here, Karen together with the
other women was exposed to night life
and everything that was in it. But months
later, the agency stopped its business and
this brought Karen to another source of
living.
Her next job was being a cashier at a gasoline
station. It was during these days when
she got a boyfriend and another suitor
whom she trusted much and treated as
a friend. With the new lifestyle she had
adapted, Karen had continued spending
numerous night outs where getting drunk
in the midst of merriment was a part of
it. It was during one of these night outs
when she spent a night with her trusted
suitor.
Karen thought that what had happened
was just nothing. “It was just a one night
stand and my immaturity hindered me
from thinking from the possibility of getting
pregnant,” Karen said.
Time came when Karen was asked
by her family to come home to continue
her schooling. With so much
excitement, she immediately
went home. There she told her
mother about what had happened
and with the latter’s advice
for her to have a check
– up, Karen found out that
she was pregnant.
“The first question that
my parents asked me was,
‘What is your decision
then’, and this brought
me in tears.” It wasn’t the
line that Karen expected, she
thought she would hear words of
bitterness, pain, and disappointments
from her parents but what
she had were words of assurance,
of love and understanding.
With her humility and openness,
Karen did not deny that abortion
came to her mind but the love she
has for her son dominated and
brought her to her senses.
Karen is filled with so much love
and inspiration with her 4 –year
– old son. It was his birth that
moved Karen to continue what
she had started as a student. Now,
inspired by her son and her entire
family, this girl who once lost her
way is finally paving her road for
success as she will graduate this
October with the degree of Bachelor
of Science in Management Accounting.
By the end of the school
year, she will have earned another
degree as a graduate of Bachelor
of Science in Accountancy.
Now, Karen aspires to be the best
of she can be. As she pours her
heart and her success to her son
and to her whole family, she ended
our interview with a message to
her parents, “Thank you for all the
understanding and support. I may
have disappointed you once but
that will never happen again. I will
strive not only for myself but for
all of us. My success is yours.”
Karen, having experienced the
said thing, wants to remind everyone
to always weigh things before
taking the first step. As she put it,
we may take a peek on the positive
side but we must always take a
deeper look on the negative aspect.
Truly, Karen is a living proof that
true success lies on one’s ability to
rise after the fall. After all, life is all
about that.
-IAN KIT BANDALA
Hectic schedules, and academic
commitments are the common
things a college student usually
encounters. It is because college
life differs a lot from high
school life. During high school
days, we used to participate in
any activities especially in the
field of sports. Fact that there
are exemptions from classes in
those days. But now, there’s no
exemption anymore yet we can
have benefits from it.
What is really meant by being
sporty and academically active
Well, being sporty means
a person who develops sportsmanship
and passion in sports.
They are students who have
the potential and passion, and
join in the varsity team to enhance
their skills and be disciplined.
On the other hand,
academically active students
are those committed students
who devote themselves only
on studying lessons so that they can
excel in the academics. Why not we
combine them together A sporty
and academically active! Is there really
a person who has both
A humble yet talented volleyball
player with good body built is Mr.
Ian Kit Bandala, a 2nd year regular
student from the College of Accountancy.
He was a trainee for one
semester and later became a varsity
player in the men’s volleyball. He
divided his time accordingly. He
should have time for practices during
MWF (3-5 PM).
According to Ian, he considers trials
and obstacles as inevitable things
as human beings. His father’s death
last year gave a big blow on him. His
only inspiration and motivation of
his career was his father. According
to him, there was a time that he
doubted if he will still continue being
a varsity player because he lost
his inspiration. Yet with God’s help,
he still continued his passion for his
brother instead. His brother was also
a well-known player of basketball
when he was still at college. Many
people asked him why he chose volleyball
when his brother was a basketball
star. He just answered, “I want to
build my own name, and I want to
discover who I really am. I admit that
I am encountering hurdles in playing
such sport because I considered
myself before as a weak person but
I was wrong. I discovered that I have
the potential and the ability. Thus,
constant practice makes everything
perfect.”
Ian believes that all of us have the
potential in making all things possible.
So, if you believe that you have
the capacity then go for it, grab it. La
Salle University (LSU) is an institution
which offers an avenue for you
to showcase what you have. Grab every
It’s not new to Br. Moreno, to work with great responsibility
and a wide range of leadership. Having been a president in the
De La Salle- Lipa and La Salle College- Antipolo, Br. Moreno
only proves how he lived up the words of Saint John Baptist De
He is also a holder of several Master’s degrees. He has also
he has in mind is to follow up and carry out the PAASCU’s recommendations. His few
PULSO
LASALYANO
BY HAROLD BODIONGAN
Philippines is commonly known as the “Pearl of the East”. This is the reason
why foreigners are eager to invade our country. Decades passed when
the Philippines suffered from the invasion of different nations – Spaniards,
Japanese, Americans among others. They brought disasters not only to the
properties of the Filipinos but also traumatic events.
June 12, 1898 marked the day of the Filipino freedom declared by Emilio
Aguinaldo – Philippine Independence. In a layman’s term, independence is
simply freedom - freedom from cruel invaders, freedom from enemies and
freedom to inherit and cultivate the land where Filipinos born and live.
Now let’s take a look to the following viewpoints of young Lasallian students
on the 111th Independence of the Philippines. Let’s also figure out if these
students still remember the national heroes who saved our country fromconquerors.
The bottom-line is do students still remember how we achieve
this freedom Do students of the modern times recognized the people who
once sacrificed their lives for the nation’s sake Come, let’s meet these young
students.
1st Question:
Who among the Filipino heroes you
admired most Why
Krisjane Simbajon &
Beverly Bodiongan
BSCMA-4
For us, we recognized Dr. Jose Rizal. He fought
for freedom not using deadly weapons. He was
engaged in different fields wherein he helped
the people and the nation as well in promoting
our freedom. At present, we hope that there
will be someone as mighty as Rizal for us to
achieve the real independence.
Rito Tumubo
BSC-AB-4
For me, Dr. Jose Rizal is my best hero because
he used his capacity & ability against the enemy
by using his mind through his writings.
He knew that we cannot win against the Spaniards
for we only had itak or bolo while Spaniards
used guns and bombs.Through him, we
discovered the purpose/aim of the Spaniards
- God, Glory and Gold. Their purpose was to
deceive the Filipino people.
Nelson R. Tumala Jr.
BSED-3
Dr. Jose Rizal is my no. 1 Filipino hero. He
has many virtues that prove us that we are Filipino
in mind, heart, and deed. He, as a man
of peace, loves freedom. Above all, he honors
virtues over victory and value and sacrifices
over success.
2nd Question:
In your own point of view, what is
Philippine independence Why
Joahn L. Adrese
BSC-BA 4
Philippine Independence is somewhat related
to Philippine freedom. In which, our country
is a democratic one. Every Filipino is entitled
to have the right to express their own opinions.
Jeanelle D. Otero
BSHM 2
Philippine Independence for me is the time
we Filipinos are given the chance to govern
our country and live it the way we should.
We enjoy democracy in our country which in
many ways give us chances to live our rights
as Filipinos. Because of this freedom, we are
also able to fight for our right and live as free
individuals in our country.
Jeny Fe C. Pausal
BSOA 1
Philippine Independence, for me, is the time
when all Filipinos are liberated from any foreign
invasion. Many Filipinos died for freedom.
Independence helps us to go on with
our own lives freely and confidently.
Johnric S. Molina
BSA – 1
Apolinario Mabini is the Filipino hero I adored
most. He had proven that physical disabilities
are not barriers to success. He showed that
success doesn’t require perfect assets.
Jessel Lumacad
BSA-FM 3
Philippine Independence is the time that the
Filipinos long to achieve. Many things where
sacrificed – property, personal goals, families,
education and even innocent lives.
Cielito Joy G. Neri BSIT-1
For me, Dr. Jose Rizal is the hero I most admire.
I admire his intelligence and love toward
his fellowmen. He has been successful in
many fields.
Awesome, isn’t it It’s good to know that youth nowadays still remember
the past. For me, real independence is not yet achieve at present. Why
Look at the environment, particularly the government. Look at the poor
people’s faces. Look at yourself. The real Philippine Independence does
not begin on the government. Let it begin on you!
“
I’ve got a great
ambition, to die
“
boredom.
-Thomas Carlyle
Despite our best efforts to live a pretty active life and even with
the height of modern forms of entertainment, there comes a
point when we just can’t help but feel bored. You know that
feeling you get when you can’t seem to concentrate on what
you’re doing and you can’t find anything else to do that picks
your interests, that’s boredom. Boredom is inevitable, so whether
you like it or not, you’re going to experience this unpleasant
state every once in awhile. And what’s more, it can be a
very dangerous condition for you because a bored mind usually
wanders on crazy ideas, right And we all know that crazy ideas
don’t always do us good. So, I’ve geared up all summer to help
you break out of this rut. Just read these simple steps below and
fighting boredom will surely come easy.
time
to
kill
BOREDOM
BY JON PAOLO AMADOR
STEP 1: Dig out the root cause.
There are a million possible reasons why you’re feeling bored. Figure them out! If you can’t concentrate on
what you’re doing, find out what’s bothering you. Boredom may seem like a simple dilemma but it’s actually a
very complicated thing. Know whether you’re boredom is caused by an emotional, spiritual, physical or social
issue, or if it’s depression, frustration, rejection, etc. Find out what’s causing boredom to attack, so that you’ll
know how to counteract it.
STEP 2: Get your blood flowing.
Physiologically speaking, when blood is not pumping well, you’ll have weak production of adrenaline and endorphins.
Without these juices, you’ll feel lifeless and bored. So get them flowing by doing something physical.
Stroll off, hit the gym, or play some sports like badminton, basketball or volleyball. Do these activities and
you’ll not only kill boredom. You’ll get to burn some calories as well.
32 tingogmagazine
STEP 3: Shake up your routine.
If you’re used to following an organizer or a daily planner, things will
eventually get boring. Routine is the root cause of boredom so loosen
up a bit and try to do something different and unplanned for a change.
Like if you normally eat out for dinner, try cooking for yourself. Or if
you usually spend weekends at home, try to go out and socialize! Dare
to do exciting things and you’ll knock off boredom from your life!
STEP 4: Be Happy!
Know what makes you happy and be happy! Read your favorite books,
watch your favorite television shows or tune in to your favorite tracks.
Do things that you love and make your life colorful. Having fun will
keep your mind occupied with happy thoughts leaving lesser tendencies
for boredom to sneak through.
STEP 5: Live a Healthy Life!
If you feel sleepy, exhausted, and bored all the time, then you might
need to schedule a check-up with your doctor. Sometimes boredom
is caused by your unhealthy lifestyle. So quit being a couch potato. Get
enough sleep, eat right, shape up and live healthy!
STEP 6: Avoid doing BAD stuff
The most common mistake of bored people is when they give in to
crazy ideas. When you’re bored the mind is unable to think well and it
can be a little impulsive. You’ll think of anything to kill that boredom
bug even if it means doing bad stuff. So watch out for crazy ideas that
you might regret doing later on.
STEP 7: Set Goals and Be Optimistic.
Make a list of things that you want to accomplish in life! When you’re
mind goes blank and careless, grab a pen and list down things that you
want to achieve before you die! Think of the things that you’ve always
wanted to do, be positive, and dream on! A bucket list may seem like a
silly thing to make but it’ll point you to the right direction and up your
game in life leaving boredom six feet under!
STEP 8: BOND with YOURSELF!
Establish time for yourself every once in awhile. Take a break from
all the problems and stress, walk your dog, meditate, look at “boring
things” in a new way, and chillax. When you feel light all the time you’ll
repel negative energies leaving boredom out of your way.
STEP 9: UPDATE yourself!
Find out what’s hot and what’s not! Update yourself about the latest in
music, movies, books, clothes, gadgets or anything under the sun that
you find interesting. There’s a reason new stuff, and new trends exist.
When you know what’s going on with the modern world, life will seem
like boredom never existed!
FIND LIFE’S SIMPLE PLEASURES. Boredom
busters aren’t expensive. You can simply give
yourself a lemonade, play ping pong & chess
with friends or even hike a bit.
STEP 10: Fix your LIFE!
Don’t dwell on depressing happenings in your
life, move on and start all over. If you flunked exams
just study harder. If you fought against your
best buddy, it’s time you talk things out. Boredom
comes to those who are lonely and easily depressed.
So put on a smile and fix your life. Do
these and you’ll never find a reason to get bored!
Boredom may seem like a silly thing to fuss about
but like I said, it can be the root cause of much
more complicated things.
ENGR. GRACE DOLLOSO
She took up Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering at the University of
Bohol, Tagbilaran City. She also completed the academic requirements for
Master of Science in Civil Engineering at MSU-IIT, Iligan City. Before she
was appointed as the OIC Dean of the College of Engineering, Engr. Dolloso
served as a faculty member of the said college. At first, she felt reluctant to accept
the position because of the big responsibility attached to it. But soon she
realized nothing is permanent in this world. “In La Salle, your position is not
permanent, so I got the courage to take this challenging work and promised to
try my best”, Engr. Dolloso exclaimed. Enhancing the curriculum, increasing
the enrollment rate, improving the performance in the board examination and
more student activities that may develop self-esteem are some of her plans.
She wishes that the students, parents, colleagues, and co-administrators will
support her and the department because according to Engr. Dolloso, “without
a good support group, nothing will happen in my plans”.
