ART CLUB
Visit to Willows Court
On Tuesday this week 5
members of the ART CLUB
accompanied Mrs Rigby to
Willows Court home for the
elderly.
The aim of the visit was to allow
the children to experience the
pleasure of sharing their artwork
with the residents and to bring
the lovely art and textiles work
that we all take for granted
around the school to a new
audience in the community for
their enjoyment. The residents
were very excited and
interested to see the work and
had lots of questions for the students about how the pieces had been made and how long it had taken them. The
photograph shows one particular resident, who is visually impaired but who appreciated the art and textiles work
hugely, because he could touch it and observe the bright colour contrasts within it even though he could not
distinguish the details.
The students that visited were: Ella Godfrey, Lydia Davis, Nick Davis, Monica Sondh and Natasha Miller.
It was really satisfying to see the students so enthusiastically sharing their work with the elderly residents and to
see how art can cross all boundaries of age and ability. We have left the work for the enjoyment of the residents
and we would like to make this a regular visit where we periodically bring new work to be shown and enjoyed.
