In last week’s article on the HPV Team for 2010. I omitted Mr Terry Luppino’s name inadvertently. Terry
manages the team and among his other busy roles as Clare House Co-ordinator, Cross-Country Coach
& Manager as well as Senior Physical & Health Education teacher, Terry has been a wonderful
supporter of the College’s co-curricula program. It’s been a very productive year also for Terry with the
birth of his second son, Rafael, as well as managing to get the Magpies over the line for the 2010
Premiership! Well done Terry.
Advent Prayer
Lord Jesus,
Master of both the light and the darkness, send your Holy Spirit upon our
preparations for Christmas.
We who have so much to do seek quiet spaces to hear your voice each day.
We who are anxious over many things look forward to your coming among us.
We who are blessed in so many ways long for the complete joy of your kingdom.
We whose hearts are heavy seek the joy of your presence.
We are your people, walking in darkness, yet seeking the light.
To you we say, "Come Lord Jesus!"
Amen.
Helping To Spread Christmas Joy
On Tuesday November 30 th a group of four year seven Mornington students were lucky
enough to contribute to the making of the Christmas hampers for the society of St Vincent De
Paul.
With the guidance of Mr Hansen the group of Charlie Collins (Sebastian 4), Emily McGenniss
(Kolbe 1), Amy Cook (Kolbe 1) and Georgia Smith (Kolbe 3) helped with the moving of boxes
filled with gifts and stayed to help throughout the morning and early afternoon.
Throughout the day we learnt how to use new tools and got a greater understanding of how to
organise such events. We put together many boxes, pushed and pulled trolley loads of
donated items and arranged them into gender and age group categories.
We were all mesmerised with the amount of gifts donated and with the time and effort that so
many gave in the hope that some of those less fortunate could have a happy Christmas.
The positive energy and the smiles of everyone there really made you think about how great
the community we live in is, and the way that a small effort from many people could give so
much happiness to those who really need it. The Year 7 students all came home believing that
many hands really do make light work.
