Training Programs<br />
Lifeguard Training<br />
Show the world what you can do. Prepare for college and a<br />
career by developing leadership and communication skills and<br />
be a hero by learning lifesaving skills such as first aid and CPR<br />
and have fun and earn money at a job you love. Lifeguard<br />
Training teaches you the skills and knowledge needed to<br />
prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. Participants must<br />
pass a prerequisite swim test which includes: swimming 300<br />
yard continuously using front crawl and breaststroke, swim<br />
20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive to a<br />
minimum <strong>of</strong> seven feet, retrieve a 10 pound object and swim<br />
20 yards back to the starting point within one minute and<br />
40 seconds. Course length is 31 hours. The course fee includes<br />
a $10 non-refundable pretest fee. There is an additional<br />
American Red Cross Certification fee <strong>of</strong> $35.<br />

Certification Challenges<br />
This will give individuals an opportunity to become re-certified<br />
without attending the classroom. Participants must be currently<br />
certified in the specialty that they wish to challenge. Challenges<br />
are available for CPR/AED for the Pr<strong>of</strong>essional and Lay Rescuer,<br />
Oxygen Administration, Lifeguard Training and First Aid.<br />

Water Safety Instructor<br />
Participants will learn how to teach water safety education,<br />
including the Basic Water Safety course, the six levels <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Learn to Swim Program and also parent and Child courses.<br />
Participants must pass a prerequisite swim test, including<br />
performing 25 yards <strong>of</strong> front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke,<br />
sidestroke, elementary backstroke and 15 yards <strong>of</strong> butterfly.<br />
Course is 36 hours.<br />

Lifeguard Instructor<br />
Provide instruction to future rescuers. Instructor candidates<br />
will learn to teach Lifeguard Training and all courses associated<br />
with being a pr<strong>of</strong>essional lifeguard. Prerequisites include<br />
successfully passing all the skills associated with lifeguard<br />
training certification. Course length is 29 hours.<br />

Junior Lifeguard<br />
The Junior Lifeguard Program is a great way to get a head start<br />
on a future as a pr<strong>of</strong>essional rescuer. The program includes<br />
training in rescue skills and drills; on the job skills, general pool<br />
operations, hands on training during swim lessons and public<br />
swim. This program does not certify participants as lifeguards.<br />
Participants must be able to swim 25 yards. Course is 16 hours.<br />
Ages: 10 - 14<br />
Days: Saturdays (4 week session)<br />

Community Water Safety Today<br />
Presents information regarding various hazards <strong>of</strong> specific<br />
aquatic environments and how to avoid and respond to<br />
emergencies in and around water. Home and community pool<br />
safety education is also discussed. This course satisfies the<br />
Florida Statutes requirement for foster families and individuals<br />
adopting a child.<br />

Warren Hawkins Aquatics
