ETHIOPIA
In 2007, PIN Ethiopia continued training primary school
teachers in modern teaching methods and handed over
management of the Center for Modern Teaching Methods
to the Pedagogical Institute in Awassa.
The first students graduated this year from the high school
for orphans in Awassa. Their results exceeded the Ethiopian
average. The local NGO established by PIN, Shiny Day, took
on full responsibility for skills training and social support
for students. The school is for students whose parents have
died of AIDS, offering them the vital opportunity to gain the
education and skills they will need to find work.
“Let’s build a school in Africa” is a joint public collection
run annually by PIN and the Czech Association of Scouts.
In 2007 donations funded two more schools in Boricha and
Teff o Cheffo.
