Shabbat at Congregation Beis Menachem is an experience. <strong>The</strong> atmosphere is<br />

welcoming, friendly and comfortable. <strong>The</strong> service is user-friendly. Pages are announced<br />

regularly to help you keep pace. Every new person is greeted at the door. <strong>The</strong>re is<br />

running commentary throughout the Torah reading, and the rabbi’s weekly sermon<br />

connects the reading to daily life.<br />

A children’s program, complete with a prayer circle and relevant stories and song,<br />

begins in September. It all ends with a lively kiddush featuring the congregation’s<br />

famous cholent and words of inspiration to which all are invited to participate. Every<br />

month on the Shabbat blessing the new moon, there is a lavish sit-down lunch for the<br />

entire community to enjoy and celebrate.<br />

Welcome to Congregation Shevet Achim! You will feel at home in the friendly,<br />

down-to-earth setting of this warm Mercer Island community. <strong>The</strong> congregation is<br />

led by Seattle’s beloved Rabbi Yechezkel Kornfeld, who creates an environment that<br />

encourages acceptance, learning and spiritual growth. Shevet Achim members come<br />

from all walks of life, and they take pride in making all feel welcome. Page numbers<br />

are posted to help participants follow the service and explanations of the Torah portion<br />

and prayers are provided <strong>as</strong> well. Every week after Shabbat services, members gather<br />

for a sit-down kiddush lunch where you can socialize, sing zemirot, and hear the rabbi’s<br />

words of wisdom on the weekly Torah portion.<br />

Shevet Achim is blessed to have many growing families. Shevet Achim offers Shabbat<br />

Congregation Kol Ami is a friendly and inclusive Reform congregation located in<br />

Woodinville that welcomes people with different levels of <strong>Jewish</strong> experience, diverse<br />

backgrounds and interfaith families. Kol Ami provides an excellent small synagogue<br />

choice in the Seattle area, particularly for those in Northe<strong>as</strong>tern King and Southern<br />

Snohomish counties.<br />

Kol Ami holds weekly Shabbat services and all major holidays are observed and festival<br />

occ<strong>as</strong>ions celebrated. Worship services are open to all. See their online calendar for<br />

dates and times to join them.<br />

<strong>The</strong>re is a strong commitment to spiritual growth, <strong>Jewish</strong> education, and community<br />

development. Kol Ami offers a comprehensive religious school leading to B’nai Mitzvah<br />

with small cl<strong>as</strong>ses and award-winning teachers. <strong>Family</strong> education, participation and<br />

prayer are key components of the religious school program. Kol Ami h<strong>as</strong> a very active<br />

Sisterhood, Brotherhood, NFTY-affiliated temple youth group, and Kid KATY group<br />

for those between B’nai Mitzvah and high school. <strong>The</strong>y strive to build a social and<br />

community network for members through these groups, <strong>as</strong> well <strong>as</strong> through social<br />

action and membership social functions.<br />

Kol Ami’s religious school and youth groups are open to children ages 4–18. <strong>The</strong>y are<br />

proud to teach children about the richness of <strong>Jewish</strong> traditions and Hebrew language,<br />

and look toward families learning on this journey. Cl<strong>as</strong>ses for pre-kindergarten (age 4)<br />

through 7th grade (B’nai Mitzvah) meet at Kol Ami on Sunday afternoons 3:15–5:30 p.m.<br />

and include a tefillah service. Grades 5–7 also meet on Tuesdays at Kol Ami 5:30–6:30<br />

p.m. Parents are encouraged to be involved in cl<strong>as</strong>srooms and to attend prayer services.<br />

Tutors are available to <strong>as</strong>sist B’nai Mitzvah students with their preparation.<br />
