First Step
towards success
C C S National Institute of Agricultural Marketing, Jaipur

From the PGP Chairman's Desk
The globalization process together with the fast developments in information and
technology sectors has brought about revolution in income levels, mobility of people,
cultural interactions and business practices. The GDP growth rate of 5-10 per cent per
annum in several developing countries, never heard of in the past, has become common
now. Likewise, high absolute income growth of the developed countries is generating
opportunities for the less developed countries to participate in the growth process. The
quality of life and the way the business is done is changing fast due to increase in income,
and access to information and goods and services. Today's consumer is informative,
environment and health conscious and expects more precise value in product and
services. These changes are affecting the nature and speed of change in demand that
need quick adjustments in supply and delivery system in a manner to be able to compete
efficiently and effectively.
Thus, the above changes in the nature of demand, information, and technology are not
only making the agri-business and food and fiber marketing complex but are throwing
several challenges to the profession of marketing in general, and agricultural marketing
in particular. Areas that will have high value in this changing marketing paradigm are
marketing research to find out exacting needs of the consumers of different segments,
innovation and entrepreneurship in product development, understanding competitors' strategy, marketing intelligence, R&D,
logistics, finance and risks in trade and planning and implementation strategies in several of these areas. Communications with
various stake holders and project management are other areas.
The curriculum at NIAM for PGDABM is designed to provide students the opportunities of learning the intricate skills and
techniques, the knowledge and the aptitude to deal with above complex and challenging marketing issues of the future
marketing. While putting the responsibility of disciplined learning on the students, the Institute has generated a very helpful
environment for learning by using several pedagogical methods (conceptualization, case method, simulation, workshops,
industry interaction, and management projects) and by providing a supporting physical and academic environment in a holistic
manner with all advanced technology. Thus the PGP student from the NIAM is a highly specialized professional having learned
agriculture science, management, and agribusiness and marketing. Therefore, such a professional is fully equipped with the
expertise needed in dealing with the shifting marketing paradigm in different agribusiness and marketing systems in not only in
India but around the globe and to provide exacting requirements of the market efficiently and effectively. Thus, NIAM has geared
itself for providing a well nurtured agri-business and marketing management graduate to take challenges of the agri-business of
the country with a global perspective.
Jaipur - The Pink City
Jaipur is the pristine jewel in the desert sands of Rajasthan. It is located 260 km from national capital
Delhi due to which it has developed into a business centre with all the trapping of modern metropolis
but yet flavoured strongly with an age-old charm that never falls to surprise a traveller. Jaipur was the
first planned city in India. Jaipur is as remarkable for its marvellous architecture and town planning as it
is for the lively spirit of the people who inhabit it. The city presents a unique synthesis of culture that
has to be experienced in order to be appreciated. NIAM is 16 km from Bus Station, 17 km from Railway
Station and 5 km away from Airport.
