Full Circle
Full Circle: A Story of Faith and Friendship
“At a time when I needed help,
my friends from CCC came through.”
Evona Frink
with sons Micah, Caleb, and Lucas
• Graduated: 1993
• Major: Business Education
• Current Occupation:
Full-time mom and
part-time English teacher
Evona Boyette made many friends during
her years at CCC, including several on
her music ensemble. “As we traveled
around the country and ministered to
people, I found that my focus shifted away
from myself to what I could do for others.”
After graduating in 1993, Evona married
her college sweetheart, Cliff Frink –
already a youth pastor at Fellowship
Baptist Church in the Tampa area. He
soon accepted the call to be senior
pastor and led the church through an
exciting period of growth. Pastor Cliff’s
outgoing personality, dynamic speaking
style, and Godly character influenced
everyone he met.
In 2006, Evona and Cliff
experienced the busiest and
most exciting year of their lives.
“Everything had worked out as
I had planned,” she says. “We
were madly in love with each
other, had three beautiful boys,
a lovely home, and a wonderful ministry.”
Then, Cliff suddenly became sick with
cancer. Everyone around him was
shocked at the news, but Cliff faced the
future with lighthearted humor and
God-given courage.
Over the years he had taught others
to "choose faith" – to pray and trust
God for the answer. “It’s time to live
what I preach,” Cliff told Evona in his
final days. “We can’t depend on our
circumstances. We can’t always
understand why. Just trust that God
is good and kind and faithful.”
When God took Cliff home in October
2006, Evona’s life changed radically. But
through the help and prayers of many
people, including Cliff’s parents, She
began to adjust to her new life as a
single mother.
While looking for a source of income,
Evona spoke with Jody Munro Duncan, a
friend from her former music ensemble.
Jody is married to CCC graduate Roger
Duncan and serves with him on the
administrative team at nearby Seffner
Christian Academy. “Roger and Jody
asked me what I needed. I told them
about my situation, and they
immediately stepped in,” Evona says.
She soon received a job teaching high
school English part-time at the Academy,
along with insurance and schooling for the
boys. “At a time when I needed help, my
friends from CCC came through.”
“Right now, God has called me to
provide stability for my three boys,” she
says. “They’ve lost their dad, but I want
them to see positive results of their
choice of faith.”
Evona and Cliff wrote
daily blogs throughout
his battle with cancer.
In March of 2009, VMI
Publishers will release
a book based on
those blogs entitled
“Choosing Faith
Against the Odds.”
Music for Life
Music For Life
Real-world experience, strong academic credentials
and a desire to follow God’s leading.
Meet professors Steve
and Pattye Casarow.
“When I came to Clearwater in the fall of
2002, my specialty was exactly what the
college needed,” she says. “I can see that
God worked in my life for years and years
to prepare me for what I’m doing now.”
Dr. Pattye Casarow hasn’t skipped a beat
since deciding to become a music teacher
in seventh grade.
After earning her music degree, she
taught in Christian schools for a number
of years. Then she turned the page and
began to prepare for ministry at the
college level. In time, she received a
masters degree in music education from
Arizona State University before
completing her Ph.D. in music education
and choral conducting.
4
Dr. Casarow’s passion is to give Christian
music teachers high-quality training for
their future careers and ministries. “God
sends us very special students who are
serious about doing well with the talents
He has given them.”
Besides teaching classes in music education,
choral performance, and humanities, Dr.
Casarow directs musical groups on
campus. “I love the size of this place. It’s
large enough to have a major orchestra,
a fifty-voice Concert Choir, a brass
ensemble, an audition-based Cantorum
Chorale, and a bell choir. Yet it’s small
enough that you can really get to know
the students. Nobody’s a number here.”
Clearwater offers many opportunities
to enjoy music, meet other people, and
travel on ministry trips or tours.
Non-music majors who love to sing
or play instruments are always welcome
to join in.
Dr. Pattye Casarow
Professor of Music & Music
Education
Chair, Department of Music
Director of Choirs
“Students often discover that music
speaks to them,” Dr. Casarow says. “It’s
your oasis in the middle of the desert – a
chance to be creative and expressive.
Participating in a music class or group is
your time to get away from the books and
minister to your own soul. At CCC, we’ll
train you for life and ministry – not just
for a career. Remember, you’ll experience
music in worship for the rest of your life.”
a chance to be creative and expressive.”

The Sky's The Limit
Who Says The Sky's The Limit
One day as a young teenager, Steve
Casarow jumped at the chance to take
his first airplane ride. “I still remember
that flight vividly,” he says. He went on
to earn his commercial instrument
multi-engine license and train other
people to fly.
He also had early encounters with
computers. During college in the 1970s
he worked on an IBM system 138
mainframe, and his first personal
computer was a Radio Shack TRS-80
Model 1.
After graduating with a business
degree, Mr. Casarow spent most of
his professional career in Phoenix as
an insurance company development
manager, stockbroker, information
systems manager, data processing
supervisor, and sales representative.
Over the years he’s worked with
significant products and accounts, from
Prudential to IBM to Home Depot.
His entrepreneurial skills led him to start
a successful swimming pool cleaning
business. Plus, he earned an MBA on the
University of Phoenix campus.
But when CCC offered his wife a
teaching job in 2002, he realized that God
wanted them both to move to
Clearwater. “I sold my pool business,
house, and plane hangar all within a few
weeks. That’s how God works
sometimes.”
Mr. Casarow now teaches classes at CCC
on computers, information systems
management (ISM), and other business
topics. His well-rounded background
ensures that students learn the ropes
from someone who’s well-grounded in
the industry.
“Everything I’ve done in life has prepared
me for this job,” he says. “I help students
understand how companies actually use
their systems and software to stay ahead
of the market.” How does he like the
CCC campus experience “I love working
with the kids – they’re like a bunch of
sons and daughters to me.”
Despite his busy teaching schedule, Mr.
Casarow is currently studying for a Ph.D.
in Information Systems Management at
Argosy University. We could get into his
love for golf and how he’s helped the
Clearwater golf team improve its swing
– but that’s a whole 'nother story.
For Mr. Casarow, the sky is definitely not
the limit.
Phenomenal Friendships
Phenomenal Friendships
Catch a concert. Attend an athletic event – or compete in one.
Volunteer in the community. Join your friends at the coffee shop.
You’ll be amazed how much you can fit into a single day.
Of course, sometimes things totally happen out of the blue …
Phenomenal Fay: Sharing Adventure
Traditionally, every minute of Fall Registration and opening week is planned out to
welcome first-time freshman into the CCC family.
This year, opening week was anything but traditional for the class of 2012, thanks to an
unscheduled weather event – now referred to on campus as “Phenomenal Fay.”
The 2008-2009 school year launched with orientation activities on Saturday.
After Sunday’s campus-wide worship service in the gym, students enjoyed a
sunset service and pizza dinner at Sand Key Beach. (By the way, if you’re
heading off to Christian college, it doesn’t get much better than this.)
“It already feels like one big family,” said a freshman from North Carolina.
Then it happened. Everyone heard the “big news” – Hurricane Fay was arriving
on a rapid track from the Florida Keys. Carefully monitoring weather reports,
President Stratton and other college officials decided to announce an orderly
campus evacuation for Monday.
Thankfully, the hurricane turned out to be just a tropical storm in the Tampa
Bay area – and by Tuesday, all hurricane warnings were canceled.
Students returned to campus with new friendships and plenty of stories to share.
Excitement was running high as upperclassmen began to arrive on campus.
In the end, Phenomenal Fay brought the entire college family closer together through a
common experience of adventure and trust in God.
Phenomenal Teammates: Building Bonds
What’s it like to play on the women’s soccer team Plain old hard work, for
one. And ‘round-the-clock friendship for another.
“We really bond with other people on and off the field. We’re friends, not just
teammates,” says goalie and team captain Megan Dixon, a senior
Interdisciplinary Studies major from Georgia. “We’re together 5 days a week,
including many hours of on-the-road traveling to games and tournaments.”
While riding the team bus, players share long talks, watch movies on their
laptops, listen to iPods, munch on snacks, and tackle the next round of
homework. On a few recent trips to Georgia, the entire team actually stayed
at Megan’s house. “My mom treats us like queens,” she says.
Once on the field, the team “knows how to play 100% for the entire 90
minutes,” says midfield/defensive player Brethny Espinosa, a junior Information
Systems Management major from Washington who was injured during a
hard-fought game this season.
Brooke Littlefield, a midfield/defensive player and senior Accounting major
from Pennsylvania, has played soccer all 4 years at CCC. “Coach Milton
encourages everyone to stick with it – to keep working on it. And that carries
over to life. We’ve learned to never give up.”
Most importantly, the team strives to live for Christ through struggles and
trials. Midfield player Jennifer Ramos, a senior Social Studies Education major
from Hawaii, says that “all team members pray with their prayer partners
before every game. Plus, the team conducts devotions before and after every
practice.”
After all, a Christian soccer team doesn’t just move the ball down the field; it
moves people toward Christ.
Phenomenal Volunteers: Roadside Rest
On November 8, 2008, the world's greatest athletes came to Clearwater
for the Ironman 70.3 series competition. Over 70 CCC students joined
thousands of local volunteers to help the city host this prestigious
competition. The 7½-hour event began at seven a.m. and continued
non-stop until athletes crossed the finish line.
CCC has supported the Ironman competition for a couple of years with
the help of student organizations. This year, the Junior Class sponsored
the large Bike Aid Station on McMullen-Booth Road and the Men’s Change
Tent at Pier 60, where the race starts and ends. A brand new ladies’
Greek organization, TDX, sponsored the Women’s Change Tent at Pier 60.
Students also helped out with Medical, Timing, Wet Suit Peeling, and
Doping Control Escorts.
“Ironman 70.3 is awe-inspiring, and the athletes are incredible,” says Mr.
Ryan Dupee, Vice President for Student Life. “Students are always excited
about the event and amazed at the level of endurance and abilities!”
Volunteering for Ironman is a great way to have fun, make friends and
show the community why it’s cool to be from CCC!
About the Ironman 70.3 Series
According to the official event website,
“Since its inception in 2006, the
Ironman 70.3 series has become the
fastest growing triathlon series in
the world. Now there are 31 events
around the world that qualify athletes
for the Ironman World Championship
70.3 in Clearwater every November.”
8
70.3 miles of total racing
• A 1.2-mile swim on Clearwater Beach • A 56-mile bike course • A 13.1-mile run through Clearwater

Phenomenal Force: Pushing Back
It’s a guy thing.
Every semester, one of our Greeks (ADS) sponsors a no-holds-barred dodgeball
tournament in the gym. Fired-up students, faculty, staff and alumni gather to play
and cheer each other on. Even prospective students head out onto the court,
eager for a taste of campus life.
Standard prize for the winning team is $10-20 gift card to a local restaurant –
and priceless bragging rights!
If you’ve never seen a game of dodgeball, imagine playing Battleship with rubber
balls instead of pins and people instead of ships. Oh, and you don’t have that silly
shield in the middle of the board.
“It’s always exciting to see the guys dodge, duck, and weave to avoid getting
pummeled,” says Matt Murphree, Director of Activities and Assistant to the Dean
of Men.
Some team members come dressed for battle in uniforms that scream “attitude.”
Sure, there are some iron-clad rules of play, but everybody knows what counts.
• The match begins with a shout from an official: “1...2...3… DODGEBALL!”
• 6-player teams on either side of the court try to stay alive and within
bounds, despite incoming volleys.
• The referee calls out anyone who gets pegged (hit with a ball), including
players who fend off balls with a headshot.
• When the last person is pegged, the remaining team wins the match and
moves forward in the tournament.
Rest assured that CCC’s dodgeball tournament is friendly and fair, yet aggressive.
Maybe that’s why guys keep coming back for more.
Niche Found!
After graduating Appointee, Campus
Bible Fellowship
with a Bible
Virginia Tech
degree in 1999, Blacksburg, Virginia
Andy completed
his Master of
Divinity at Central Seminary in Virginia
Beach. While seeking the Lord’s will for
ministry direction, he learned of Baptist
Mid-Missions’ outreach on secular
campuses – Campus Bible Fellowship.
Andy and his wife Davina are now
appointees to the CBF ministry at Virginia
Tech, where he says the on-campus
shootings of April, 2007 “have created
opportunities to talk with students about
what happens in eternity.” The campus
ministry includes small group Bible
studies, one-to-one evangelism, and
distribution of tracts and Bibles. In
addition, Andy will organize outreach
events such as whitewater rafting, hiking,
and home hospitality. “Virginia Tech has a
huge student center and unlimited
opportunities to talk with students,”
Andy says. “We can also use an
information booth and classroom space.
Most important, Campus Bible Fellowship
puts a strong emphasis on the local
church.” Andy and Davina are the proud
parents of two small boys.
During her senior year, Joanna completed a
business internship at a local financial office.
She was asked to remain on full-time after
graduation and soon became office manager.
Currently she works for Raymond James
Financial Services, reviewing all
communications and advertising to ensure
the accuracy of disclosures and promotional
statements. “As a compliance specialist, I educate
financial advisors and help them stay on top of the
rules and regulations, especially in this economic
climate,” Joanna says. “There’s a lot of liability out
there.” Joanna feels she received a well-rounded
business education from CCC. “I never realized
how important some of my classes were until I joined the
workforce. Also, CCC taught me the importance of maintaining a good
testimony. You only have to take a stand once, and people you work with
notice.” A member of Bible Baptist Church in Bradenton, Joanna enjoys playing
Kamden Kuhn
Public Relations
Coordinator
The ALS Association
Tampa, Florida
A few days after graduation in May, 2007, Kamden began work in
Bristol, Tennessee, as a broadcast reporter for an NBC affiliate
television station. A year later, she parlayed that experience into a
public relations position with the ALS Association in Florida. Kamden is
a natural fit for this job, since she had been a volunteer with ALS for
many years. In addition, her grandfather died of ALS (Lou Gehrig’s
disease) when she was a teenager. Kamden’s wide-ranging
responsibilities span marketing, PR, media relations, and advertising. “I
love this job because it incorporates everything I love about journalism.
I get to write, interact with people, and do something different every
day. While maintaining professional boundaries, I am definitely able to
be salt and light and a testimony to ALS patients in their last days.”
Kamden says she has a “second full-time job as the wife of a youth
pastor” – CCC graduate Mitch Kuhn.

“I always wanted to become a pilot,” Clay says. After joining junior ROTC in
high school, he realized that “the military is the best way to go.” He then
enrolled at CCC because it’s the only Christian college with Navy ROTC on
the east coast. Since graduating with his Navy commission in 2007, he’s been
stationed at the Navy Air Crew Training School in Pensacola. “I just finished a
block of flights where we did aerobatics,” he says. “Everything you see at air
shows – that’s what we’re doing right now.” Once training is complete, Clay will
receive his wings and base assignment. “I come across a lot of people up here
looking for answers about their eternal destiny. Pilots are a very analytical
breed, and it takes a lot more discussion than witnessing on the street,” he says.
Off duty, Clay enjoys spending time with his wife Melanie. He also likes to hunt
and fish, and occasionally cooks food at a local homeless shelter.
Nathan Burggraff
Nathan completed a double degree in piano
and composition before entering Eastman
School of Music in 2005. He then earned a
Masters degree in piano accompanying and is
now working on a Ph.D. in music theory. He
also takes classes at Calvary Baptist Theological
Seminary in Lansdale, Pennsylvania. “I want to
have a voice in both fields,” he says. “In the
future I want to teach music theory, write on
music from a theological perspective, and write
sacred music.” Over the past few years he has
accompanied musical mission teams to Peru and
South Africa. In the summer of 2009 he plans
to lead a team back to South Africa, once again
assisting a church planting ministry on the coast.
In addition, Nathan has played many piano concerts in churches, projecting the
Leah Santisteban
Adoptive Parent
Coordinator
Gift of Life Adoptions
Pinellas Park, Florida
During her senior year, Leah
completed a psychology practicum at
Gift of Life Adoptions. “CCC really
encouraged students to go out into
the world and look for opportunities
like my practicum – to reach out into
the community,” Leah says. Gift of
Life Adoptions hired her full-time
after graduation as an Adoption
Coordinator, advising birth parents
about their decision to place children
for adoption. Recently she was
promoted into a position where she
helps approve adoptive families and
prepares them for upcoming changes
in their lives. “Adopting a child into a
good family breaks the cycle of
broken families. A lot of these girls
come from very difficult life
circumstances, but they believe that
abortion is wrong. I try to be their
friend and show them that I care.”
Although she is on call 24/7, Leah also
gives of her time to teach young
children at Keystone Bible Church.
of these great hymns,” he says. Nathan has also recorded CDs of his music.
We’re
Freezing in
Florida
The economic climate is changing quickly. So what are
we doing about it Something very different.
Enroll in CCC, and we’ll freeze your tuition and
room costs at the 2009-2010 rate.
That way you can “lock in” the total cost of your college
education until you graduate.
Just a couple of cold, hard facts to keep in mind:
• You must enroll full-time as a degree-seeking
student.
• You must enroll for either the fall or spring
term of the 2009-2010 school year.
• You must maintain your enrollment to receive
the fixed rate.
• The cost freeze applies only to tuition and room
costs – not meals or fees.
CCC also offers outstanding financial aid. The overall
cost of attending Clearwater Christian College
is among the lowest for regionally accredited private
colleges.
CCC is an outstanding value in today’s economic climate!
