Southwestern & Central Ontario
Ontario Tourism
Gaze out over glorious lakes, sandy beaches, rocky islands adorned with
windswept pines and stunning scenery tucked around every inlet and
cove. Spoil yourself at a grand resort set on sparkling lakes and
surrounded by lush forests or enjoy the rustic comfort of a log cabin as
you search for moose and explore the waterways by canoe.
Be spellbound as you trek through dense woodlands and along towering
sand dunes and limestone cliffs. Spread your wings at some of the world's
most renowned birding spots and witness the spectacular late summer
migration of thousands of monarch butterflies. Southwestern and Central
Ontario is a playground for recreation, relaxation and adventure.
HANDY HINT
The Tree Museum near Gravenhurst is set in 200 acres of
woodland and combines the pleasure of a walk in the
woods with contemporary sculpture. The site is open year
round so nature, an integral part of the installations,
presents a constantly changing backdrop to the artworks.
Pathways of the Algonquin
Algonquin Provincial Park
Motorcycling Lake Ontario
Toronto &
Lake Ontario Region
Travel from Toronto to Algonquin Provincial Park and on arrival, take a short hike to Surprise
Lake followed by a traditional voyageur canoe ride to the rustic Algonquin Log Cabin Lodge.
Enjoy some free time before a twilight wildlife excursion, then retire in your simple
accommodation which offers shared bathrooms in the lodge plus hot showers in the separate
sauna building.
Start your second day with an edible wilds walk before lunch back at the lodge and an
afternoon at leisure. In the evening take a short paddle to watch the sun set over the lakes
and enjoy a campfire dinner. Perhaps surprise a sleepy moose as you embark on a sunrise
paddle, tuck in to a maple syrup breakfast cookout and spend the rest of the morning at leisure
before an afternoon return to Toronto.
This circumnavigation of Lake Ontario covers lakeside roads and by-ways, which are ‘on the
beaten track’ but off the main roads, allowing you to ride your Harley Davidson around this
huge inland sea and enjoy the best scenery along the way. After spending your first 2 nights in
Kingston, travel to Sackets Harbour in New York State for 2 nights, home of the American fleet
during the war of 1812.
Head south to the head of Lake Geneva and the village of Watkins Glen, a mecca for all motor
racing enthusiasts, for a 2 night stay. Continue around the lake and back into Canada’s
picturesque town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, home to some wonderful wineries and great
shopping, and only a short ride to Niagara Falls. After 3 nights here, ride to Toronto along the
Queen Elizabeth Highway for a 3 night stay in this cosmopolitan city. Your adventure draws to
a close as you make your way north to Kingston and reluctantly return your motorcycle.
