This vibrant company blends Latin dance,
ballet and modern dance with “elegance
and lyricism” (The Washington Post),
embodying an energy and moving
grace that is grounded in the
rich heritage it represents. For its
Strathmore debut, Ballet Hispanico
brings a new work created especially
for the troupe, Espiritu Vivo, by Ronald
K. Brown. The piece explores the
intersection of the African and Latino
diasporas in the Caribbean and Latin
America. Brown is an artist who “has
emerged in recent years as one of the
strongest, most distinctive choreographers
around” (The New York Times). The
performance also features Ballet Hispanico
pieces Tres Cantos, Club Havana and
Mad’moiselle.
