Nicola Brooks - State Selection<br />

Girls Hockey<br />

Our congratulations are extended to Nicola<br />

Brooks (Year 5 student) on her selection as a<br />

member of the <strong>School</strong> Sport Victoria Hockey<br />

Team.<br />

Nicola will compete in the <strong>School</strong> Sport<br />

Australia Hockey Championships in<br />

Canberra from 18-23rd August. Well done<br />

Nicola and we look forward to hearing about<br />

your involvement in the Championships.<br />

Nicola is a member of the <strong>Tucker</strong> <strong>Road</strong> girls<br />

hockey team that is about to commence<br />

playing in our District winter sport<br />

competition against other schools.<br />

Working Bee Report<br />

Sunday 5th <strong>May</strong><br />

Thank you to all family representatives who<br />

attended the working bee last Sunday. A<br />

range of important tasks were completed:-<br />

Cleaning windows<br />

Spraying edges<br />

Rewelding fence posts/Rainbow<br />

House<br />

Mowing (lots of it)<br />

General sweeping and grounds<br />

maintenance<br />

Removal of sign at front of school<br />

<strong>School</strong> Canteen wins Glen Eira Council Food Award<br />

At a recent presentation ceremony <strong>Tucker</strong> <strong>Road</strong> <strong>Bentleigh</strong> <strong>Primary</strong><br />

<strong>School</strong> Canteen was presented with a City of Glen Eira Food Business<br />

Award. The awards were presented to those businesses with the<br />

highest standards of food presentation and service. Congratulations go<br />

to Marilyn Green – <strong>School</strong> Canteen Manager for her on-going work in<br />

this important area. <strong>Tucker</strong> <strong>Road</strong> was presented with a framed<br />

certificate by the <strong>May</strong>or of Glen Eira at the ceremony and was the only<br />

school recognised in such a way.<br />

Book Fair Thank you<br />

I wish to thank Jan Johnson, Helen Trowbridge, Jenny Williamson and<br />

Joanna West for helping out during the Book Fair.<br />

An extra special thank you to Jan, as it will be her last Book Fair. Her<br />

Southern Cross Recycling<br />

Next Monday13th <strong>May</strong> from 8:00 to 9:00 am <strong>Tucker</strong> <strong>Road</strong> will be a recycling station for<br />

unwanted wearable clothes and shoes. A collection truck from Southern Cross Recycling will<br />

be based on the school grounds at the front of the school. Students and parents can bring along<br />

wearable clothes and shoes for recycling on this day.<br />

Parents are encouraged to start collecting and storing such items to bring along on this day.<br />

Helpers Needed<br />

Helpers are needed to serve at the Parents’ and Friends’ Association’s Mothers’ Day Stall on Friday <strong>May</strong> 10 th <strong>2013</strong><br />

from 9.15am till 1.30pm, and then to tidy up afterwards.<br />

It is great fun, and you will be provided with a scrumptious morning tea!<br />

If you are available for all, or even part, of the time, please join us. Your help will be greatly appreciated.<br />

Donations for Mothers’ Day Raffle<br />

Many thanks to those parents, families and businesses who have generously donated prizes for this year’s Mothers’<br />

Day Raffle. We have had a wonderful response - from offers of accommodation on the Mornington Peninsula, hair and<br />

beauty treatments, state of the art electrical appliances, kitchenware and beautiful soaps and scents – and there are<br />

going to be some very happy Mums!<br />

If you would still like to donate, it is <strong>no</strong>t too late. Prizes can be left in the basket at the office.<br />

If you have made (or are going to make) a donation and would like to have your family or business ack<strong>no</strong>wledged in<br />

the newsletter please let us k<strong>no</strong>w. Where possible we will also issue a Certificate of Appreciation. Please leave your<br />

Change of Date – <strong>May</strong> PFA Meeting<br />

The <strong>May</strong> meeting of the PFA has been moved back a week, from 20 <strong>May</strong> to 13 <strong>May</strong>. This is to tie in with the <strong>School</strong><br />

Council meeting schedule. The meeting will be in the Parents’ Resource Room and will commence straight after<br />

assembly, as usual.<br />

Dear Dads and Students, Mothers’ Day is nearly upon us and the Parents and<br />

Friends Association will be holding its annual Mother’s Day Stall on:<br />

Friday <strong>May</strong> 10 th <strong>2013</strong>.<br />

Students will be brought to the stall by their classroom teacher at allocated times<br />

during the day, and will be given the opportunity to purchase a gift for Mum!<br />

If you would like your child to participate, please provide him/her with:<br />

1) Money wrapped in plastic/foil or in a purse/wallet (clearly named)<br />

2) A plastic bag (clearly named).<br />

Gifts at the Stall will range from<br />

50 cents to $5.00<br />

(Most students buy a couple of items)<br />

There will also be a raffle drawn on the day.<br />

Tickets will be 20c each with a maximum of 5 per child.<br />

These will be on sale at the stall.<br />
