Facilities<br />
Mavis Triebel stated that the problem with the door locks in the Ruby Fuller Building<br />
could be handled by a work order.<br />
Faculty Development/Welfare<br />
Sheila Guillot reported that the committee will be coming back with the recommended<br />
qualifications for the delegate attending the “Great Teaching Roundup”.<br />
Faculty Social Functions<br />
Susan Gregory reported there are several options available for the coming months. “The<br />
Christmas Carol” will be in November, “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” in<br />
February, “Of Mice and Men” in April, and “Chicago” in April. Please get in touch with<br />
Susan to express your interest in attending any of these events. David Sorrells invited<br />
interested persons to attend the “Renaissance Festival” on the second weekend in<br />
October. Janet Hamilton stated that Ken Burns will be speaking at the Lutcher Theater in<br />
Orange on October 17 as part of the Lecture Series of the LSC-Orange campus.<br />
Old Business<br />
The chair appointed Kim Jones as an additional member to the “Relay for Life”<br />
committee. David Sorrells, chair of the LSC-PA Relay for Life Committee, reported that<br />
the committee will be considering fund raising projects to finance our team at their next<br />
meeting.<br />
New Business<br />
The Chair introduced Creig Miller, adjunct voting member and Helen Dupre, staff<br />
non-voting member. These two members were elected by their colleagues in an<br />
election held in September and will serve through the September 2008 meeting of<br />
the Senate.<br />
Miller will serve on the Academic Issues and Facilities Committees and Helen<br />
Dupre will serve on the Faculty/Staff Relations Committee.<br />
The Chair announced that Development Leave applications are due for 2008 or<br />
2009 to the Department Chairs by October 12. Those interested in applying<br />
should get their applications to Sheila Guillot prior to that date for their review.<br />
Janet Tawney requested that Security at night be improved. There have been<br />
instances of teachers being locked in the building. The Chair requested the<br />
Facilities Committee to investigate this problem.<br />
Janet Hamilton requested that cross walks be painted on Procter Street from the<br />
Allied Health Building to the Performing Arts Center. There is a fear that a<br />
student is going to have an accident in this area. This item was also assigned to<br />
the Facilities Committee to pass on to the Campus Safety Committee.<br />
