In what has been a big week in footy, this week
saw AFL CEO Andrew Demetriou in Canberra for his
address at the National Press Club. Here he spoke
of the vision and future goals of the AFL and the
opportunities that lay in front of us all to grow our
great game. In a milestone only few have achieved,
Stafford Cooper will play his 250th first grade game
This weekend we see teams from the NEAFL
Eastern Conference travel to yet another city when
Ainslie hosts the Swans in Newcastle. This is a great
opportunity for not only these two teams but also the
Black Diamond Football League who have been great
with their assistance for this match. A good crowd is
expected for this top of the table clash.
AFL CANBERRA WAS ALSO FORTUNATE TO HAVE ANDREW
INTERVIEWED AT OUR WEEKLY MEDIA UPDATE AND FOR
THOSE WHO MAY HAVE MISSED IT ON WIN NEWS
WEDNESDAY NIGHT, THE INTERVIEW IS AVAILABLE ON AFL
CANBERRA’S YOUTUBE WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/AFLCANBERRA
in AFL Canberra this weekend when he runs out for
Eastlake. Along the way he has won the Mulrooney
Medal in 1998 and been named All-Australian on
three occasions. At 36, Cooper is still providing a solid
target up forward for Eastlake and no doubt the team
hope to topple the GIANTS this weekend to mark this
special occasion. Congratulations Stafford.
In what should be another close game the high flying
Hawks will play Queanbeyan at Greenway Oval. Only
percentage separates the two teams on the ladder
and after their come from behind win last week, no
doubt the Hawks will be looking to continue their
winning ways as Queanbeyan aim to get back on the
winners list. See you at the footy
