Set-up Reduction Using SMED

setup reduction. Reducing machine setup/
changeovers increases manufacturing
flexibility, reduces manufacturing costs,
enables lower inventories, and creates additional capacity
with minimal investment. But why are we learning
to brew coffee at an APICS PDM And how does
brewing coffee lead to reduced setup times

Group, LLC will lead attendees in a hands-on setup
time reduction workshop, using a simple example of
brewing coffee to train you to use SMED---single minute
exchange of die---methodology. Learn how to apply
this proven methodology for reducing and sustaining
setup time reductions based upon SMED in any manufacturing
environment.
Even if you are not a coffee drinker, attend the April

As a Fortune 500 executive and operations leader, Chuck
formulated operating policies, oversaw performance of
operating resources, managed expense/capital budgetary
processes, integrated technologies, and built and coached
winning operating teams that increased on-time deliveries
for organizations such as Matrix Essentials, Bonne Bell,
and Ferro Corporation.
He earned his BS/BA and MBA degrees from John Carroll
University, completed Avery Dennison’s Six Sigma Black
Belt training, and is certified CPIM. Chuck is an active
CPIM instructor for the Cleveland Chapter of APICS and
one of about 200 instructors in the U.S. trained to instruct
APICS’s Lean Enterprise Certificate workshop. Chuck is a
U.S. Air Force veteran.
