borders, Yellowstone National Park imposed
strict limits Monday on campfires and
cigarette use to prevent human-caused fires
within the park.
No wood or charcoal fires will be allowed
anywhere in the park. The restrictions apply
to fire grates, charcoal grills and fire pans in
all campgrounds, picnic areas, parking areas
and employee housing.
‘‘It is very dry,’’ said park spokeswoman
Marsha Karle.
In addition, no smoking is allowed except
in buildings or areas where smoking is normally
permitted and where there are ash
trays.
The typical camping gas stove is permitted.
Earlier this month, the park prohibited
any backcountry wood or charcoal fires.
