Breast Reduction – The Lollipop Scar Technique
by Dr. Charlotte Rhee
Women with very
large pendulous
breasts may experience
a variety of
medical problems
including back and neck pain. Also,
the weight of large breasts can cause
the bra straps to dig into the shoulders
leaving groove
markings. Large breasts
get in the way of physical
activities such as leaves the breast with
Breast Reduction, also known as
reduction mammaplasty, is a surgical
procedure undertaken to make the
breasts smaller. There are many different
breast reduction techniques. The
more traditional method (inverted T-
scar) leaves the breasts with a vertical
and a long horizontal scar (along the
breast crease). I utilize the LeJour technique
which leaves the breast with a
single vertical incision (lollipop scar)
and in my opinion, with a rounder
and more naturally appearing breast
with a better cosmetic result.
Breast reductions are
performed as an outpatient
procedure and are
covered by insurance. If
you would like to learn
Help With Weight Loss and Diabetes
by Dr. Dazhi Chen, PhD, LAC
a healthy, successful
way of losing weight
with acupuncture,
actually changing your
metabolism.
Recent reports show
two-that thirds of American
adults are either overweight
or obese in this
country and obesity rates
have grown from 15%
in 1978-1980 to 32% in
2003-04.
Not only does obesity increase
the risk for developing
major diseases, including
type 2 diabetes, heart
disease and stroke, but
may lead to some forms of
cancer as well. Many therapeutic
weight loss programs
may work in the short term,
however, as most Americans
know, the patient gains the
weight back almost immediately
after he or she discontinues the
program — usually under unhealthy conditions
during treatment or after the patient
has stopped exercising. Weight gain can be
attributed to many things, but metabolism is
a key consideration and should be looked at
seriously.
I recently developed a healthy, successful
way of losing weight with acupuncture,
which can actually change your metabolism.
There are several unique characteristics with
this therapy:
1. You do NOT gain back the weight you
lost.
2. You will see the results as early as the
FIRST WEEK.
3. Stop craving food.
4. Health Issues such as insomnia,
constipation, menopause
and stress will be
alleviated simultaneously
during the treatment.
5. It is effective for how your
whole body will function.
If other weight loss programs
have failed call Dr.
Chen at 516-562-9221 (located
at 277 Northern Blvd., Ste.
306, Great Neck) for an appointment or email
altmedny@gmail.com. Acupuncture is also an
effective treatment for menopause, pain management
(neck pain, shoulder and back pain)
as well depression, fatigue and infertility.
Women and Heart Disease
by Hong Meng, M.D.
Heart disease, also
called coronary artery disease,
is the leading cause
of death for both men
and women. The American
Heart Association
reports that although
heart disease rates have dropped significantly
for men over the
last 25 years, rates among
women haven’t shown as
much of a decline. Risk
factors include diabetes,
high blood pressure, high
cholesterol, smoking, being
overweight, unhealthy
diet, inactivity and excessive
alcohol use.
You can reduce your risk
by lowering blood pressure and cholesterol,
eating a healthy diet (low in fat and
cholesterol, high in fruits and vegetables),
exercising, quitting smoking and cutting
down on alcohol.
If your doctor suspects that you have
heart disease, you may be sent for an
Zwanger-Pesiri Radiology (ZPR) offers
Coronary CT Angiography (CCTA), a
3D images of the heart and coronary
arteries, allowing doctors to detect narrowed
At ZPR, we use the
produce high-quality images
