Thorpe and Mathias Track Meet - June 14, 2012
Honor Band and Honor Choir Trip to
June, 2012
By Henry Nowland
Lincoln’s honor choir and honor band took a trip to
Mar del Plata in April of 2012. They stayed in the Santa
Teresita Hotel, which was near the Atlantic Ocean. Immediately
after an eight hour bus ride, the honor band and
choir played at the Northern Hills School in the suburbs.
The next day, Lincoln performed at a public school in the
city, and then played for the elementary school at Northern
Hills. Then, in the evening, everyone went for a swim in the
ocean and to spend time at the beach. Some people even
dunked their heads in the water! After breakfast on the
21st, Lincoln packed up and got ready for another eight
hour bus ride back to Buenos Aires. Overall, it was a great
success!
The Friendship Meet
With UAS
and ISC
The friendship meet is a tournament that encourages us to meet new people,
make new friends and overall have fun. And thanks to the amazing bond
between the Lincoln and other internacional schools around South America we
were able to play sports, and even better, make friends. The Internacional School
of Curitiba, and the Uruguay American School both came and we had a great
time. The sports that we played in the Friendship Meet were basketball and soccer.
Also, the school organized a trip to Snack Bowling. We all went and had a
great time. The Curitiba kids and coaches left early on saturday morning, to go
home, but the Uruguayans stayed to play a mixed match with the Lincoln athletes.
Overall, it was a great success, and i hope that Lincoln doesn’t stop doing
it. As an eight grader, it was an amazing experience and I’ll never forget it because
it is one that I will cherish forever. You make new friends and play sports,
and overall, have fun. I just want to say thank you to everyone who made this experience
possible for all of us.

Tomás Meritt
As a Middle School Student, it honestly
SUCKS to be leaving Middle School. I really enjoyed
the time I had in the MS and I don’t think
I regret any second of it. I came here to Lincoln
in 6th Grade and am leaving at the end of this
semester :( but I have to say, I LOVED my time
in Middle School. It was definitely the best time
I ever had. As Jorge Gonzales says, a couple
of the things he enjoyed about his years in the
Middle School are the jokes and fooling around
during class. Tommy Meritt, on the other hand,
says he will miss being treated with respect as
an eighth grader. He will also miss the teachers
in the Middle School like Mr. Bohnen, and the
students who are leaving. Jorge says he is not
excited at all about the amount of pressure in
the highschool and all of the responsibilties that
come with it. Tommy says he is not looking forward
to the piles of homework he is expecting
to get while in High School. Jorge remarks how
excited about having the “High School experience”...
I bet we’re all sad about leaving Middle
School, but we all need to look forward to the
positive things about the High School.
Teachers Leaving
By: Andres Delannoy
It is with great sadness that we say good-bye to three teachers that
have provided almost 30 years of combined service to Lincoln
Middle School!
Erik Ortmann and his wife Larisa Masson and their sons, Jack and
Harrison, are moving to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to continue their
international teaching and travelling adventures!
Noah Bohnen is heading North, WAY up North to the capital of Russia,
Moscow! He is also part of an international teaching family,
and his wife Julie Rogers and their sons, Axel and Cy, are along for
the adventure!
Don’t forget us; we will never forget you!
Departing 8th
Grade Students
About to go to high school, the 8th graders are waving their goodbyes to
Middle School and venturing into the jungle of madness that is High School. But
apart from the excitement and anticipation circulating around, there is a touch of
sadness that the closing of the year will bring; the fact that many students will
not be continuing this journey with us.
It deeply saddens us to bring you the list of those who are moving on from Lincoln
and who are starting high school somewhere else in the world.
We will miss these people dearly and we will always treasure the time and memories
collected over the years.
Goodbye, good luck with everything and never forget
the class of 8th grade, 2012!
The Talent Show
By Jasmine Orogun
Here at the Lincoln Middle School we have plenty of talent
to showcase. On Thursday 31st May 2012, we had a
Middle School Talent Show where dozens of parents and
friends came to see the talented performers on show.
This talent show was made possible by Ms. Glas and the
rest of her Green Team. The profits from the tickets, and
bake sale during the interlude, were raised for a charity
to help children. The Green Team were able to raise hundreds
of pesos, with the help of the gifted and brave students
that took part. Some of the acts seen were; pianoplaying,
guitar-playing, singing and group performances.
It was a wonderful evening. Thank you Green Team!
GIN FOOD DRIVE
Cleft palate is a defect
where your upper mouth
shapes wrongly when
you are in your mother’s
womb, and you have a slit
or opening in the upper
lip.
Hey, did you help the poor, helpless,
crippled and deformed this year Because
GIN did. And you did as well, if
you brought in food for their food drive
last April. Remember There was that
pizza party that Mr. Ortman’s advisory
won. Of course you knew all that, but
did you know what we were doing it
all for Did you know that in addition
to raising food for the poor, it was also
for dismembered and deformed people,
in particular people with what is called
cleft palate.
The GIN drive was a great
success. On June 12 the GIN
members will drive to Fundación
Banco de Alimentos
and deliver all of the food that
we collected, which totalled
342 boxes and cans. Good job
everyone!!!

Final Exams
by Phillipe Chaotakoongite
The final exams are a set of examinations on core subjects which
test how much you’ve learned the entire semester. These core subjects include
Math, English, Social Studies, Science, Lengua, Estudios Sociales. These exams
are worth 10% and count as part of the semester exam. These exams are
also preparations for high school as, later, exams will be worth much more.
For each teacher, the type of exams differ. For some teachers, they prefer
using more more multiple choice questions and short answer questions. Some
teachers might prefer students to write their thoughts down and use questions
which require a lot of explanation.
With exams comes studying - students choose different ways to
study for each exam. With subjects that they feel more confident in, some will
reread their notes and simply take it from there. With harder subjects, some
students will go even further and use methods such as flashcards, study guides,
or even look online for more information. Maybe, you can use these tips for
the next exam you might have!
Feeling pressure is a normal part
of taking exams. Sometimes, you just
have to study a lot and get prepared for
an exam. Other times, maybe all you
need to do is reread your notes and take
a deep breath before diving into a massive
amount of questions. But here is a
tip everyone should take - go to sleep
early and make sure to get enough sleep
so you don’t fall asleep on the test!
