2010 Guatemala Mission trips
Prayerfully consider joining our teams to go and share the love of Jesus Christ with His
precious children in Guatemala. Deadlines are approaching quickly, so please go to

Guatemala: February 12–20, 2010: Orphan Ministry, community outreaches with
churches in Jocotenango and Alotenango, and deliver humanitarian aid. Buckner does not
have this on their website yet so please check with the above website for the PCBC February
trip application. Land Cost: $1,855 Airfare Cost: approx. $600-700. Contact Cynthia
Hayes, Buckner on site Travel Consultant, chayes@buckner.org. Trip participants are responsible
for any baggage fees that may be charged at the time of check-in.

Our Jerusalem
Manuel's Jacket: Children's Coat Ministry
Manuel, a 5th grade boy who lives in Vickery and is a part of our Amigos de Dios bilingual service,
was recently part of a children’s group hearing Meg York talk about her upcoming Russia
trip to work with orphans. As he heard her talk about children there who did not have coats to
keep them warm during the freezing Russian winters, he was deeply moved and took off his
prized jacket and handed it to Meg. He asked her to give it to a child so he could keep warm
through the winter.
Manuel’s compassion caused him to give all that he had, just as the widow in Jesus’ parable
gave all that she had to God. Manuel’s sacrificial gift encourages us to show compassion to the
children around us who do not have coats. We have been challenged to follow the example of
this truly incredible child and open our hearts to the needs of the children in our Jerusalem.
By giving coats to children who need them in the communities we serve, we build relationships
and opportunities to share Jesus’ love. Because Manuel gave, Dimitri now has a coat. The
children in need around us deserve to have warm coats as well. The children’s coats you donate
will be distributed following an Amigos de Dios service in the gym on December 13th, and will
serve as an opportunity to spread the gospel to those who might not otherwise come.
Please consider donating a new coat or an outgrown coat at the coat racks located in the
Activities Building, Narthex, Reed Building, Pleitz Building, Community Life Center Commons,
and outside the Great Hall, Sunday December 6th.
