PRESENTATION:
Jane Rodgers and Jane Lottmann gave a very interesting and informative presentation about the work of the
Bureau of Communications. There are 73 individuals assigned to the Bureau, all civilians. They handle all 911
calls and police radios. They are responsible for 45 police agencies within St. Louis County. In addition, they are
responsible for the crime tip hotline, animal control, highways after 6 p.m. and on weekends, and the safe
school hotline. They determine when to sound the early warning sirens and they issue the S.A.R.A/Amber alerts.
They are in the process of purchasing and developing a plan for a new building in Valley Park for the
Department.
