High pressure for increased safety
Frankfurt/Main, June 2012 – GEA Heat Exchangers is highlighting a newly developed GEA NH 350 plate
heat exchanger for high pressure levels in the process industry at ACHEMA 2012.
Safety has absolute priority. Especially in the chemical and energy industry any increase in safety is
more than welcome. At ACHEMA (Hall 4/Stand 44) GEA Heat Exchangers is featuring the newly
developed GEA NH 350 gasketed heat exchanger plate for the process industry. The first plate of the
NH Series is designed for test pressures of up to 36 bars to guarantee even more system safety. The
pressure-resistant GEA NH 350 is based on the established NT Series and can be supplied on request
in combinations of three different plate lengths (S, M, L) and three corrugation patterns (H, M, V).
The new NH Series – "H" stands for High Pressure – convinces with its optimised gasket and
corrugation design. This means that high pressure resistance can be achieved even when using thin
plates of special materials such as 254 SMO®, Alloy 59, Alloy 686 and C-276. This high-performance
plate is designed for test pressures of up to 36 bars.
The pressure resistance depends on both plate material and plate thickness. 36 bars are achieved using
stainless steel grades 1.4301 (AISI 304) and 1.4404 (AISI 316L). A maximum test pressure of up to 24
bars can be achieved using titanium plates.
The GEA NH 350 is fitted with glueless EcoLoc gaskets that can be replaced quickly and simply. This
reduces production downtime to a minimum in the case of maintenance being required. Thanks to the
PosLoc system the plate heat exchanger has a self-centring plate pack that ensures optimum positioning
of the plates within the pack to guarantee increased process reliability. The OptiWave design ensures
equal flow across the complete plate width to achieve maximum heat transfer rates.
