Tony Cheng<br />

Chief Executive Officer, Hong Kong and Southeast <strong>Asia</strong>, &<br />

Executive Advisor, China and Taiwan, RGA Reinsurance Company<br />

Mr Cheng joined RGA in 1997 and was named Chief<br />

Executive Officer for the Hong Kong office in 2004,<br />

overseeing business in Hong Kong as well as in Southeast<br />

<strong>Asia</strong>. In May 2007, his role expanded to include overseeing<br />

RGA’s Taiwan Branch and, in July 2008, his role further<br />

expanded to include oversight of RGA’s business in China.<br />

Mr Cheng has more than 15 years of experience in the<br />

life insurance industry.<br />

Prior to his current position, he served in various senior<br />

actuarial and management roles in Australia, Malaysia, the<br />

US, and Hong Kong.<br />

Mr Cheng has been an active participant in the life<br />

insurance industry. In 2005, he was<br />

elected as Council Member, in 2008 as<br />

President and in 2010 as Chairperson<br />

of the Experience Committee of the<br />

Actuarial Society of Hong Kong.<br />

Mr Cheng received a Bachelor of<br />

Economics degree from Macquarie<br />

University in Sydney, Australia, and an<br />

MBA degree from the Olin School of<br />

Business at Washington University in St<br />

Louis, Missouri. He became a Fellow of<br />

the Institute of Actuaries of Australia in 1997.<br />

Teddy Hailamsah<br />

Secretary-General, Asean <strong>Insurance</strong> Council &<br />

Chairman, 25th EAIC Organizing Committee<br />

Mr Hailamsah started his insurance career in PT Asuransi<br />

Central <strong>Asia</strong> (ACA), right after completing his studies at the<br />

South East <strong>Asia</strong>n Union College in Singapore in 1976. He<br />

has been President Director of ACA for 24 years.<br />

Mr Hailamsah has been active in the Indonesian<br />

<strong>Insurance</strong> Council (IIC) since the 1990s. He has been<br />

involved in various IIC milestone projects, among them:<br />

founding the Indonesia Rendezvous, being a member of<br />

the General <strong>Insurance</strong> Architecture Team in 2005, and<br />

promoting Indonesian <strong>Insurance</strong> Day since 2006.<br />

He has been the Secretary General of the Asean<br />

<strong>Insurance</strong> Council since 1999. Together with the Asean<br />

countries’ insurance industry chairmen, including the<br />

Asean countries insurance institutes, he established<br />

the Asean <strong>Insurance</strong> Education Committee (AIEC) that<br />

reactivated the Young Asean Manager <strong>Awards</strong> (YAMA) and<br />

formed the Asean School for Young<br />

<strong>Insurance</strong> Managers (AYIM). He also<br />

formed the ASEAN Natural Disasters<br />

Research Works Sharing (ANDREWS) to<br />

initiate collaboration between insurance<br />

practitioners, academics/ researchers<br />

and mitigation agencies on natural<br />

disasters within the Asean region.<br />

Mr Hailamsah has been an Executive<br />

Board Member of the EAIC since<br />

2004, and this year, he is the Chairman of the 25th EAIC<br />

Organising Committee/ Vice Chairman. He has also been a<br />

judge of the Young Asean Manager <strong>Awards</strong> for many years.<br />

In his leisure time, he loves to listen to high-end audio.<br />

Photography has been his hobby since childhood.<br />
