School calendar for 2011-2012 approved by Board ... - Dickinson ISD

School calendar for 2011‐2012 approved by Board of Trustees
Students will start school on Monday, Aug. 22 for the 2011‐2012 school year, according
to the calendar approved by the Board of Trustees at their Feb. 7 board meeting. Just
like the current school year, the district will have six early release Wednesdays during
the year for staff development. Those dates include Sept. 14, Oct. 26, Jan. 25, Feb. 22,
Mar. 21 and April 11, with students released two hours earlier than normal dismissal
time. The 2011‐2012 calendar calls for the first semester to end at the Winter Holidays
and the second semester to start at the beginning of January. Teachers and staff will
come back on Monday, Jan. 2, 2012 for a work day, followed by students returning on
Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012.
