Message from the CEO<br />
The Air Mercy Service (<strong>AMS</strong>) has enjoyed<br />
exponentional growth over the past few years.<br />
It was recognised that the management structure<br />
of the <strong>AMS</strong> would need to be altered and<br />
strengthened in order to ensure that the <strong>AMS</strong><br />
continued to develop with confidence to meet<br />
the growing need to serve all the communities<br />
in South Africa and possibly those of our less<br />
fortunate neighbours.<br />
In order to address the current and future needs<br />
of the <strong>AMS</strong> a management restructuring process<br />
was initiated in <strong>2009</strong>. The objective of this<br />
process was to strengthen the management<br />
structure and to provide a career path for <strong>AMS</strong><br />
personnel that in turn will provide a succession<br />
plan and ensure management continuity of<br />
the <strong>AMS</strong> for the future. The restructuring plan<br />
developed by the <strong>AMS</strong> management group was<br />
endorsed by the Trustees and enthusiastically<br />
embraced by the <strong>AMS</strong> team. It is gratifying to<br />
note that all the new management positions that<br />
emerged have been filled by internal promotions.<br />
This was made possible by the focus that the<br />
<strong>AMS</strong> has had on the development of its staff over<br />
the past years.<br />
In February <strong>2009</strong> the <strong>AMS</strong> was awarded the<br />
national EMS contract by the National Treasury<br />
for all the Provinces, with the exception of the<br />
