berulous, more densely so on veins, adaxially subglabrous to<br />
sparsely hairy, venation palmate, base cordate, margin irregularly<br />
serrulate, very shallowly lobed, apex caudate-acuminate.<br />
Inflorescences puberulous; peduncle ca. 13 cm. Bracts oblong,<br />
to <strong>1.</strong>2 cm, apex acute. Staminate flowers: pedicel ca. <strong>1.</strong>2 cm;<br />
tepals 4, pink, outer 2 broadly ovate, ca. <strong>1.</strong>8 × <strong>1.</strong>2 cm, outside<br />
puberulous, inner 2 oblong, 7–8 × ca. 5 mm, glabrous; filaments<br />
1–<strong>1.</strong>2 mm; anthers numerous, oblong-obovoid, ca. 1 mm. Pistillate<br />
flowers: pedicel ca. <strong>1.</strong>2 cm; tepals 5, pink, unequal, 1–<strong>1.</strong>8 ×<br />
4–10 cm, abaxially puberulous; ovary puberulous, 2-loculed;<br />
placentae axile, bilamellate; styles 2; stigmas 2-cleft, spiraled.<br />
Capsule nodding, unequally 3-winged; abaxial wing ligulate or<br />
falcate, ca. 18 × 8 mm, apex rounded; lateral wings smaller, ca.<br />
12 × 6 mm.<br />
● Broad-leaved forests, moist places; 1400–1800 m. Yunnan (Pingbian).<br />
This species resembles Begonia dryadis but differs by its welldeveloped,<br />
elongate rhizome and the predominantly basal leaves.<br />

weakly percurrent, base cordate, margin denticulate, apex shortly<br />

or sparsely villous; flowers white or pinkish, 4–10 in 3–4 times<br />
branched dichasial cyme. Staminate flowers: tepals 4, outer 2<br />
broadly elliptic or broadly ovate, <strong>1.</strong>2–<strong>1.</strong>9 × 1–<strong>1.</strong>6 cm, abaxially<br />
glandular pilose, inner 2 obovate or broadly oblanceolate, 12–<br />

flowers: tepals 4, pink, outer 2 broadly ovate, 4–5 × 3–3.5 mm,<br />

This species is similar to Begonia labordei and probably can only<br />
be separated by its distinctly dentate bracts with 3–5 teeth at the apices.<br />
