Spain is the third largest manufacturer and exporter of machine<br />

tools in the European Union. This is the best demonstration<br />

Founded in 1946, <strong>AFM</strong>, the Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association of Spain represents almost a hundred<br />

companies that account for 94% of the sector's total production in Spain. <strong>AFM</strong>'s work centres on encouraging<br />

competitiveness, defending its members' interests and fostering growth in the sector. Through a very wide<br />

range of services, it helps to reinforce the international deployment of its members and further develop their<br />

ongoing commitment to technological innovation, from its head offices in the San Sebastian Technology Park<br />

and since its setting up in Tianjin (China).<br />

In 1962, it became a member of CECIMO, the European Association of the Machine Tool Industries, holding<br />

one of the permanent vice chairs and the Presidency in its turn.<br />

<strong>AFM</strong> is also the co-organiser, together with Bilbao Exhibition Centre, of the BIEMH, the Spanish Machine<br />

Tool Biennial, the sector's fourth largest trade fair in the world and the third in Europe.

The spray greasing technology is based on contact free<br />

application with extremely precise adjustment of quantities and<br />

Inside of our microdots marking systems all of our marking machines models can<br />

mark the DATA MATRIX code , which it is a type of code, identification and traceability<br />

in two dimensions (2D), which, it is used a lot in the Automotion sector.<br />

Find attached herewith one picture where it can see the appearance of a marking<br />

in this type of code and two more corresponding to two of our marking machines.<br />

In one of them the machine is portable and in the other one the marking head is<br />

ready to be integrated in any automated production line. Both models can mark<br />

the code previous mentioned and have a marking surface of 50x17mm. Obviously,<br />

there are models with larger marking surfaces in function of the requirements of<br />

each case.<br />

3-FLEX DEEP HOLE MACHINING CENTRE<br />

The high performance Machining Centre is fully flexible for several<br />

families of crankshafts. Machining module provided with three<br />

CNC operated axes (X-Y-Z) driven by servo motors and three<br />

motorized spindles which can reach 10.000 rpm. Indexing table<br />

with 360,000 indexes driven by servo motor (B axis). Hydraulic<br />

clamping fixture mounted on the indexing table for two parts.<br />

Indexing for the Crankshaft rotation driven by servo motor (A axis)<br />

integrated in the clamping fixture. MQL Machining. Automatic<br />

tool change and Magazine with capacity for 24 tools, outside of<br />

the machining area. Light on the tool magazine area. The parts<br />

are clamped during the entire machining operations. Part automation<br />

/ handling arrangements at the Machine input / output as option.<br />

Even though three parts per cycle are machined, one single part<br />

per cycle might also be machined, depending on the momentary<br />

The parts are manipulated by lift and carry “walking beam” conveyors.<br />

A pneumatically driven part stripper is located at the end of the<br />

“walking beam”.<br />

With a 1-axis linear CNC YAMAHA FLIP type manipulator for connecting<br />

rod positioning from the walking beam to the robot lift position.<br />

The part manipulator verifies the part type and the part orientation.<br />

With a 6 axis CNC robot equipped with two grippers, each one for<br />

six connecting rods.<br />

A 1-axis linear CNC manipulator for connecting rod unloading from<br />

bushing press unit and either rejecting parts or loading to the unload<br />

conveyor. It includes a bad parts rejection ramp.<br />

The machine is flexible for several families of welded plates Rear Axles in Forged Steel.<br />

The cycle time depends on the model.<br />

Automatic Load/ Unload with Robot or gantry is possible.<br />

Each module adds a Laser probe for measuring the plate position.<br />

1L and 1R modules can be manually adjusted between 0º – 1º for more flexibility and<br />

different Rear Axles. Clamping fixture is carried-out in both ends, at the outside of the<br />

plates to be machined. The Clamping Fixture is rapid and easy adaptatable.<br />

This manufacturing system for<br />

aluminium’s parts aimed to the car<br />

industry. Starting from coils, it includes<br />

steps for material's preparation,<br />

uncoiling, levelling, embossing and<br />

blank's cutting. These blanks are, then,<br />

stamped in a 600 Tons transfer press.<br />

The embossed aluminium parts are<br />

used, among other applications, for<br />

the thermal isolation of some parts of<br />

the vehicle.<br />

The production of parts directly from coil moving<br />

progressively through the die gives a very high machine<br />

and material efficiency, essentially in small and medium<br />

size parts but now thanks to FAGOR recent developments<br />

also for bigger parts (including high strength material).<br />

A line consists of uncoiler, special leveller and servo<br />

driven roll feed (pusher and puller eventually). Automated<br />

evacuation of scrap material and finished parts combined<br />

with variable speed and variable stroke allows optimum<br />

production speeds to be achieved. In many cases more<br />

than one component can be produced per blow.<br />

The main feature of servo-driven presses is the elimination of the inertia flywheel<br />

and clutch and brake and its replacement with direct coupling between the main<br />

drive motor of the press and the slide movement transmission.<br />

The simplification of the transmission in combination with advanced control and the<br />

use of high performance servomotors ensure that servo-driven presses are especially<br />

advantageous for processes in which the position and speed of the slide have to<br />

be controlled in real time: trying out dies and special materials stamping and<br />

processing (thixoforming, plastic, aluminium, resin injection, high strength etc)<br />

Servo-driven presses enable the slide position curves, speed and stroke to be<br />

programmed so that different manufacturing processes can be carried out with just<br />

one press, including jobs that could not be done with mechanical presses until now:<br />

The manufacture of body panels for the <strong>automotive</strong> industry requires<br />

the linking of a number of large bed presses to form a production line.<br />

The lead press making the initial form used to be double action design.<br />

However, today new models are being developed around the use of<br />

a high tonnage single action press with a programmable hydraulic<br />

die cushion. Fagor Arrasate is at the forefront of this developing<br />

technology with several successful installations already proven in the<br />

field. Subsequent operations are performed by single action presses.<br />

Automation of the line is achieved by incorporating destacker, inter<br />

press handling (crossbar, robots) and moving bolster for quick die<br />

change.<br />

world largest robot manufacturer for producing innovative automation<br />

These presses are designed to transfer components from stage to<br />

stage within one structure producing completed components in an<br />

automated sequence.<br />

At the heart of the machine is the press rigidity and press throughput<br />

through the transfer system. Fagor Arrasate has designed and<br />

developed its own electronic transfer system using commercially<br />

available components and “state of the art” engineering, it can<br />

be purposed built or adapted for retro-fitting to machines already<br />

in the field. Infinite adjustments through the three axes of movements<br />

provides the optimal curve to reach the maximum parts per minute,<br />

subsequently is a very flexible stamping cell.<br />

Delivery of material to the machine can be directly from coil using<br />

an uncoiler, leveller and pinch rolls or from blanks fed from a<br />

purpose build destacker. Destackers can also be adapted for<br />

retrofitting to machines already in the field.<br />

INDUCTION HARDENING INSTALLATION FOR SHAFTS<br />

Shaft induction heat treatment allows an accurate treatment both in transversal treatment<br />

(hardening depth) and in longitudinal treatment (run-out).<br />

Induction shaft hardening installations can be classified in two big families:<br />

Scanning heating: the inductor moves along the shaft to be treated<br />

Single-shot heating: position of the inductor related to the shaft axle is fixed<br />

WALKING BEAM: Alternative movement of a mobile guide set that advances the parts on a fix guide set. When the parts<br />

arrive under the heating station, a lifter places the part between points. Advantage: low maintenance and robustness.<br />

CHAIN CONVEYOR: They make advance the shafts; a lifter places the part between points. Advantage: Easy adjustment<br />

and flexibility.<br />

STAR – INDEXING DEVICE: A manipulator places the shaft between the points of a star – indexing. It allows different tasks<br />

in parallel, as heating, cooling load and unload. Advantage: High production.<br />

ROBOT: More and more <strong>automotive</strong> facilities use robots in their flexible manufacturing cells. Advantage: Flexibility.<br />

The machining centre of the ZVH series is a<br />

fixed table & moving column type, with<br />

automatic vertical/horizontal head (1º hirth<br />

gear or continuous). In combination with a<br />

rotary table (optional) integrated in the table,<br />

complex form or multi faces machining could<br />

be realized in one setting. This concept makes<br />

possible the machining in a pendular job thanks<br />

to a dividing wall separating the two zones in<br />

a very tight way. All the moving parts are made<br />

out of perlitic grey iron, which is giving a great<br />

rigidity, necessary for high productivity rate.<br />

The movements are realized by combination<br />

of ball screws and linear guides allowing<br />

reaching according to the models until 45<br />

m/min. The concept of this type of construction<br />

improves the ergonomy (the operator is closed<br />

to the table during loading/unloading of the<br />

tooling, 2 working zones free of chips and<br />

coolant, possibility of loading with crane).<br />
