But Skyworks Solutions did not become
such an important company in Mexico
overnight. JC knows that he and his team
have to keep innovating or lose out on a demanding
global market.
“Some analysts estimate that worldwide
shipments of smartphones will
reach one billion by 2015 and tablets will
surpass 125 million units. Customers are
demanding shorter manufacture cycles on
new products and we work hard to comply
with those requests. The number of
new products released is based on many
factors but we do our best to win in all of
them. In fact, we have been releasing a
new product every six months and that is
the standard we have to maintain to stay
ahead in this market,” he says.
To that end, Skyworks Solutions plays
an integral role in the production and
delivery of analog, mixed-signal and RF
semiconductors for mobile communications
applications. It is responsible for the
assembly, functional test and shipment of
over 500 different products to customers
in America, Asia and Europe that address

JC adds: “We strive for the lowest cost,
best quality and best on-time delivery
to our customers and we always aim to
achieve 100% customer satisfaction. Perhaps
that is the secret of our success in a
nutshell. But we don’t take it for granted
and we have created several development
centers and processes to achieve our goal
of continuous improvement. These include
the recently launched Scientific Summer
program where PhDs from Mexican universities
work side by side with Skyworks
engineers to develop innovative manufacturing
capabilities.”
