4. To deal with telephone enquiries sensitively, taking messages or taking appropriate<br />
action as required, ensuring that good relationships are promoted and maintained with<br />
the public, social services and community staff.<br />
5. To maintain sensitivity to the emotional needs of patients/ clients and their carers and<br />
liaise with Occupational Therapists as appropriate.<br />
6. To maintain an accurate timetable for adult therapy staff including processing annual<br />
leave, sick leave, attendance at courses and mileage keeping the Service Manager<br />
informed.<br />
7. To ensure that when staff are not available in clinics that patient/clients are informed by<br />
liaising with clinic appointment clerks and other agencies as necessary.<br />
8. To deal with initial complaints sensitively, avoiding escalation in line with Trust Policy and<br />
Procedure guidelines, ensuring they are prioritised and responded to, seeking advice<br />
appropriately from Occupational Therapists.<br />

10. To complete manpower returns under the direction of the therapy lead/clinical<br />
coordinator.<br />
11. To monitor stocks and order items of equipment and stationery as required.<br />
12. To be involved in the security, care and maintenance of equipment ensuring standards of<br />
infection control and safety are maintained – including equipment loaned to patients.<br />
13. To arrange non- emergency patient transport for out patient sessions as required.<br />
14. Collect and collate clinic statistics to facilitate the monitoring of the service in liaison with<br />
the clinic coordinator.<br />
15. Maintain and update policies, procedures and protocols as required.<br />
16. To participate in the BHC appraisal process to identify training and development needs<br />
which should reflect the needs arising from the Service, Trust and personal development<br />
plans.<br />
17. To support the Occupational Therapy team in providing a service.<br />
18. To attend clinic meetings as necessary, taking minutes and typing up as requested.<br />
19. To comply with the duties placed on employees by the Bromley Healthcare Health and<br />
Safety Policies and Safety Policy, and related procedures.<br />
Infection Prevention and Control Responsibilities<br />
Employees must ensure that they adhere to Bromley Healthcare’s Infection Control Policy and<br />
all Bromley Healthcare Infection Control Procedures and Guidelines. They must also practice<br />
strict hand hygiene at all times while carrying out clinical duties, which is in line with the<br />
responsibilities placed on them by The Health Act 2006: Code of Practice for the Prevention and<br />
Control of Health Care Associated Infections. The prevention and control of healthcare<br />
associated infections must be embedded into everyday clinical practice and applied consistently<br />
to ensure prevention or containment of infections.<br />
It is the responsibility of all clinical staff to ensure that they have sound working<br />
knowledge of standard infection control precautions. They must ensure that no act or omission<br />
on their part or within their sphere of responsibility is detrimental to the interests or safety of<br />
patients or clients.
