<strong>49</strong>.1 DESCRIPTION OF <strong>FLASH</strong> <strong>CODE</strong> <strong>49</strong><br />
Flash Code <strong>49</strong> indicates the Turbo Compressor Inlet (<strong>TCI</strong>) temperature or Turbo Compressor<br />
Outlet (<strong>TCO</strong>) temperature went above the calibrated limits.<br />
Possible causes are:<br />
Restricted air filter<br />
EGR valve stuck open<br />
High exhaust back pressure<br />
<strong>49</strong>.2 SAE J1587 EQUIVALENT <strong>CODE</strong> F<strong>OR</strong> <strong>FLASH</strong> <strong>CODE</strong> <strong>49</strong><br />
The SAE J1587 equivalent codes for Flash Code <strong>49</strong> are p 351/0, <strong>TCI</strong> temperature above range; p<br />
404/0, <strong>TCO</strong> temperature above range; and p 404/14, <strong>TCO</strong> derate.<br />
<strong>49</strong>.3 TROUBLESHOOTING <strong>FLASH</strong> <strong>CODE</strong> <strong>49</strong><br />
There is no recommended DDEC troubleshooting for this code. Perform basic checks. Contact<br />
Detroit Diesel Technical Service with a snapshot and code logging details for instructions.<br />
Code p 404/14 is logged without turning on a CEL or broadcasting the fault. This FMI (14) is<br />
an information code only – 404/14 is logged when the ECM derates the engine due to high<br />
<strong>TCO</strong> temperature.<br />
