Big Success!
From the Red Cross Donor Resources
Representative:
“Thank you so much for the time
and effort you put into the Lincoln
City Chamber of Commerce blood
drive…We at the Red Cross would
like to say a sincere ‘thank you’ for
each of the people who were able
to have surgery, survive a serious
accident or lengthen their life span.
Please thank the generous people
who volunteered to recruit donors
and lend assistance…because despite
all the advances of modern
technology, without life-giving
Thank you, Lincoln City.
COUPONS CAUSE CONFUSION ON DISCOUNT SITES
Dissect Deals Before Buying
Lake Oswego, Ore.
Daily deals on coupon marketing
websites—like Groupon and Living
Social—may seem tempting,
but be wary: Not all discounts are
delivered as advertised. While the
vast majority of coupon transactions
connect reliable businesses
with satisfied customers, Better
Business Bureau warns that some
companies don’t keep their end of
The Lincoln City Chamber of
Commerce is pleased to announce
the addition of our long-awaited
and brand new office manager,
Linda (NONNI) Augustine, who
joined our staff on August 1.
“I’m Nonni, the new office manager
for the Lincoln City Chamber
of Commerce, very recently relocated
from Portland. My background
includes corporate training
and retail hardware, with a very
solid career in the printing industry
as well. I believe that old adage
‘nothing happens unless something
is sold’ and, therefore, think the
Meet Nonni…
good health of our local economy
is of paramount importance. I am
so pleased to work on its behalf. I
have a lot of getting acquainted to
do and look forward to meeting
you all.
“My father bought a hardware
store when I was seven years old
and allowed me to earn my keep by
dusting shelves for a nickel an hour.
(I made a lot of money, too.) When
other teens were getting summer
jobs at the pool, my father insisted
I work at the store, saying, “Why
would I pay someone else to do
what you can do I want to keep
the bargain. “Coupon marketing
sites offer great incentives for consumers
and new opportunities for
local businesses,” said Robert W.G.
Andrew, CEO of BBB serving
Alaska, Oregon and Western Washington.
“However, undisclosed restrictions
and expirations can leave
consumers feeling empty-handed.”
To get the best deal possible, BBB
suggests the following considerations:
Quality: Check out the company
before buying their coupons
or Internet specials. Read customer
reviews online and visit bbb.org.
Cost: Take a moment to inspect
the company’s website and regular
pricing to see if the discount is really
a deal. Timing: Some coupons
can only be used on certain days or
times. Review offers for expiration
dates and fine print. All restrictions
should be specified in the deal, according
to BBB’s Code of Advertising.
Convenience: Make sure the
coupon is easy to redeem. Find out
where the company is located and
its hours of operation. Usability: To
avoid waitlists and long lines, it’s
best to sign up or schedule services
as soon as possible. When redeeming
services, be prepared to provide
proof of purchase or a confirmation
code.
as much money in the family as I
can.” I got a very good grounding
in business fundamentals and an
unparalleled respect for the power
of good customer service from my
dad.
“I have been attracted to the
ocean from the first moment I saw
it and knew that I wanted to live on
the coast. Although jobs were more
plentiful in Portland and that’s
where my little family settled, I
always expected to wind up on the
coast and now—here I am. I was
attracted to Lincoln City because
it appeared to be making progressive
strides every time I would visit
the coast. Some communities have
remained the same for many years,
but not LC. I also appreciated the
respect for the natural resources exhibited
by local residents.”
We’re delighted to have Nonni
aboard. No doubt, you will meet
and get to know her around town
as she becomes acquainted with
Lincoln City, but, in the meantime,
stop in the office at 4039 NW
Logan Road and say hello to our
newest and much appreciated staff
member!
