BUILDING WORK REQUIRED
The school is wanting to convert a window in the new technology Laboratory into an
external doorway. Would any suitably qualified person wishing to submit a quote for
this work please contact Steve Gellé at the school.
THANK YOU
This is the final week that I am in the role as Acting Principal while Tony is in Italy. He
returns on Monday with, I am sure, lots of wonderful stories of the canonisation of Mary
MacKillop and his travels throughout beautiful Italy. I would like to say a very big thankyou
to the school community for your support during the past few weeks.
Congratulations to the children who will be representing Currambine at the Interschool
Spelling Bee on Wednesday Night. We wish you the best of luck and a very big thank-you
to Mrs Atherton for organising the event.
Last week Currambine had a very successful Book Week because of
the generosity of the parents and the wonderful organisational
skills of Mrs Brown and Mrs DeMamiel. Thank-you to all those
involved.
Kind regards
Thanksgiving and Graduation Mass @ SSP, 6pm
ALL SAINTS AND MARY MACKILLOP PRAYER SERVICE
A huge thank you to Miss Hansen, Miss Hart and the Year Three
students for preparing a beautiful prayers service to celebrate
the lives of all the saints, especially Saint Mary MacKillop. I
would also like to thank Steve Gelle for sharing his experiences
of the Canonisation with us yesterday. Steve also presented
the school with a gift from Rome. He bought a beautiful chalice,
ciborium and platen for us to use during our school masses.
Father Darek is going to bless these at the Graduation and
Thanksgiving Mass at the end of the year.
Thank you very much Steve!
(Illustration only)
Thank you also to Maura Killalea and the Year 2 children and families who went to the Children’s Mass at St
Simon Peter on the weekend. There was only a small number of children from Year 2 who attended but it
was a lovely mass.
THANKSGIVING AND GRADUATION MASS
As mentioned in last week’s newsletter; the Thanksgiving and Graduation Mass, Wednesday 15 December is
Graduating Year 6 class.
to place your order you will need to deal directly with the photographer.
JOKE OF THE WEEK
Lesson in Lying
A minister told his congregation, "Next week I plan to preach about the sin of lying.
To help you understand my sermon, I want you all to read Mark 17."
The following Sunday, as he prepared to deliver his sermon, the minister asked for a
show of hands.
He wanted to know how many had read Mark 17. Every hand went up.
The minister smiled and said, "Mark has only sixteen chapters.
I will now proceed with my sermon on the sin of lying."
Hi everyone
As we have quite a lot of information to exchange this week we have decided to send out a paper
copy newsletter as well as being in the weekly newsletter.
PARENTS & FRIENDS AGM
Both the board and P&F AGM’s will be held on Tuesday 23 November. Please mark this date in your
calendar now, as we would love to see you all there. Please consider nominating yourself for committee
as the old saying of ‘more hands make light work’ run so true when it comes to the school
community. It is a chance for you to be involved in the community of the school, you are all welcome.
Nomination forms for both executive committee positions and general committee are contained
in this newsletter.
WHAT IS THE P&F ASSOCIATION
The school’s P&F primarily consists of all parents and guardians of pupils enrolled in the school. It is
primarily a fundraising group to raise funds for all those extra things needed and wanted around the
school for our children and assists in promoting cultural and social activities for the school community.
An example of the social aspect is the family fun night soon approaching during this term.
To function effectively and raise funds for the students we need strong community support and
members on the committee. If you have a couple of hours spare throughout the term we would love
to see you at meetings. Meetings are held approximately monthly and need people to help with suggestions,
organisation of events, voting, ideas and encouragement. Constructive contributions are
greatly appreciated.
Please attend the up and coming AGM and consider nominating for committee.
ENJO FUNDRAISER
The committees hard working Steph Michielson, who moonlights as an Enjo representative will be holding a
fundraiser for the P&F.
She will be having a display in the Sue Groves Hall on Monday 8 November 1pm to 4.30pm, and Tuesday
9 November 8.30am to 10.30 am.
The P&F will serve tea and coffees so come along for a natter with friends while waiting for school finish, or
when you drop the kids off the following morning.
FAMILY PORTRAITS – Thanks to all the families who participated in the portrait sessions, the photographer was
over complimentary at how lovely our school families are. Thanks to Mrs Schoonens who came early to open the
school and ran late for her night out to come and close up, it is nice to have such supportive teachers at our
school.
FAMLIY FUN NIGHT
Friday 26 November 5pm until 9pm. Cost $15 entry per family or $10 per couple or $5 single.
BAR WILL BE ON SITE SO NO BYO ALCOHOL.
This year’s family fun night will be a great wind down to the year. Due to Christmas commitments for families and
the next fun night due in first term 2011 the committee have decided to forgo the regular raffles but provide a sausage
sizzle and bar to families. And we are sure a great night will be held by all. We also will be having fairy floss,
choc bombs, lucky dips and some entertainment. For a successful night please spare ½ hour or so of your time to
help on roster.
