1982), the lower section bearing a long inscription, followed by the cyclical date 'guiwei' summer at Wahu<br />

Pair of Chinese wooden panels with polychrome enameled porcelain plaques, late Qing dynasty, each of the<br />

four rectangular plaques expertly painted in 'qianjiang' palette enamels with figures in a landscape setting,<br />

one rendered in a rather impressionistic literati style, others with the landscape elements executed in a more<br />

traditional manner, each inscribed with a poetic colophon of varying length and signed 'Cheng Men' or 'Li<br />

daoren' (Cheng Men, 1833‐1908) preceded by painted seals, all set into a natural and zitan‐stained wood<br />

first panel with the upper plaque set within a leaf‐form frame accenting a scene of a stream running by a<br />

rustic villa and entitled 'bei chuan gao wo', the second plaque depicting a pavilion on a mountain peak in pale<br />

enamels along with an poetic inscription, signed 'Cheng Men' (1833‐1908), the next a circular plaque with a<br />

boat amid wind blown reeds entitled '[Lu] gang ting zhou' (=boat moored in reed harbor), with the cyclical<br />

date 'renxu' winter (=1862/1922) and singed 'Wang Nian', sealed 'Wang yin', the last vividly enameled with<br />

pavilions along a river bank backed by green mountains and set within a pink ground floral band; the second<br />

wooden panel with the upper leaf‐form plaque featuring a city wall along side a lake entitled 'Dongting qiu<br />

yue', the second a rectangular panel decorated with rustic dwellings shaded by willows, inscribed with a<br />

poetic colophon, signed 'Li daoren' (=Cheng Men) with a painted cartouche, the third a circular plaque<br />

featuring Shoulao holding a peach and accompanied by an attendant, with the cyclical date 'xinmao'<br />

(=1891/1951) and signed 'Pan Xiaoshan', the last brightly depicting a pair of birds including phoenix, Mandarin<br />
