47,000, the number of accounts administered across all products<br />
increased from just under 67,500 to over 70,000 and client assets<br />
under administration as at April <strong>2008</strong> are now over £5.4bn. The<br />
average daily trading and transaction volume increased 37%<br />
year on year.<br />
The one-off costs incurred during the year are intended to<br />
secure long term improvements in efficiency and client service<br />
and ensure we are fit for growth. As we move into <strong>2008</strong>, the<br />
focus is now on execution to maximise and exploit the<br />
opportunities this programme and the past investment in<br />
technology has created.<br />
Today, <strong>Alliance</strong> <strong>Trust</strong> Savings offers a wide variety of wealth<br />
management services and products for clients across all channels<br />
– postal, telephone and online. These include a range of<br />
investment wrappers such as ISAs, as well as investment dealing<br />
accounts including First Steps – an investment account for<br />
children. Clients can invest in a choice of self-invested personal<br />
pensions (SIPPs) – either the full SIPP which allows any<br />
investment permitted by HM Revenue and Customs, or the<br />
investment dealing SIPP (the Select Pension) which encompasses<br />
an internet dealing account, all available FTSE and AIM equities<br />
as well as exchange traded funds and a growing list of OEICs, in<br />
total over 3,000 investment choices. Small Self-Administered<br />
Schemes (SSASs), which are pensions aimed at directors of<br />
private companies, are also covered by our service.<br />
Our Full SIPP accounts increased to nearly 6,500 clients this year.<br />
A key milestone during the year was the integration of this<br />
business, previously administered from London, with our<br />
Dundee operations. This gave us a common platform for the<br />
effective and simple administration of our pension products and,<br />
Pamela Nwaogu, Pensions, Investment Dealing.<br />
