Private Equity<br />
The investment managers of our private equity subsidiary,<br />
<strong>Alliance</strong> <strong>Trust</strong> Equity Partners Limited, continue to manage<br />
investments made by third parties in the four venture capital<br />
funds that were set up prior to its acquisition as well as the<br />
private equity exposure of the Company. As at 31 January <strong>2008</strong><br />
over £18m of third party funds were being managed. The<br />
intention is that the exposure of the Company to private equity<br />
investments will grow as part of the investment strategy to<br />
invest across a range of asset classes to secure performance in all<br />
economic cycles.<br />
