Ontario’s Childcare Industry<br />

<strong>The</strong> 2008 <strong>ADCO</strong> Fall Conference<br />

n November 8 and 9, <strong>ADCO</strong> hosted its 2008<br />

Fall Conference at the Delta Markham Hotel<br />

& Conference Centre. Taking advantage <strong>of</strong><br />

this unique opportunity to meet with leading suppliers<br />

and learn from experts in a variety <strong>of</strong> fields related to<br />

children’s early learning and care, were the owners,<br />

managers and staff <strong>of</strong> licensed child care programs from<br />

across Ontario. <strong>ADCO</strong> was pleased to welcome the many<br />

presenters who led seminars and workshops over the<br />

course <strong>of</strong> the weekend. Among the topics covered were:<br />

threat assessment for child care programs; child care<br />

and the environment; phenomic awareness; and science<br />

programming for young children. Other sessions covered<br />

issues related to management and staff motivation,<br />

accounting, government relations and supporting<br />

children with differing learning abilities. <strong>The</strong> trade show<br />

portion <strong>of</strong> the conference featured a host <strong>of</strong> products,<br />

services and information <strong>of</strong> interest to educators. During<br />

her keynote address, <strong>ADCO</strong> President Bonnie Walraven<br />

recognized and thanked these exhibitors, referring to<br />

them as “valuable members <strong>of</strong> the <strong>ADCO</strong> family who<br />

make major contributions to children’s well-being.”<br />
