SHOW RULES & REGULATIONS<br />

FEES: Stalls - $65.00/weekend<br />

Classes - $20.00<br />

Championships - $25.00<br />

Office Fee - $<strong>10</strong>/rider<br />

This show is judged under the USA Equestrian rules, which are<br />

available for inspection in the show office.<br />

Copy of registration papers must be available for horses entered in the<br />

show. A copy of current <strong>UPHA</strong> membership card is requested with<br />

entry.<br />

Age of riders is as of December 1, 2007.<br />

Show management reserves the right to cancel or <strong>com</strong>bine classes due<br />

to the number of entries per class. Academy classes will be closed<br />

after 26 entries per class have been received (2 splits of 13). Mail<br />

your entries on time.<br />

Two-minute gate hold between classes will be enforced. The gate<br />

person should be notified of tack changes at least 4 classes before<br />

needed.<br />

Age of division riders: Jr. – 13 & Under, 14-17<br />

Sr. – 18-38, 39 and over<br />

Walk-Trot – <strong>10</strong> & under (may not show in any other mounted classes.)<br />

All dogs must be kept on a leash.<br />

Stalls are available after 12 Noon Friday by entry form reservation<br />

only. Stalls will cost $65.00 per weekend from Friday evening through<br />

Sunday. No single-day rates and NO STRAW BEDDING. NO<br />

OUTSIDE BEDDING ALLOWED. No stall reservations by phone.<br />

NO REFUNDS ON STALLS. Open check required at check in.<br />

Camper hook-ups are available at $50 for the weekend. Make<br />

reservations at time of entry. Payment for camper hook up is<br />

payable at time of entry.<br />

Entries close April 18, 2008 for this show. Any entries postmarked<br />

after entry form closing date will be assessed a $<strong>10</strong>/class post entry<br />

fee. Return the enclosed entry registration and stall reservation form<br />

with stall payment to insure: (1) a stall, (2) advance entry in classes (3)<br />

guarantee tab at show, and (4) camper hook up.


Entries made at the gate are considered late entries and will be assessed<br />

the post entry fee of $30. Scratches at the gate are non-refundable.<br />

NOTICE: Illinois law requires a negative Coggins within the last<br />

twelve months for each horse. Please send a copy ahead with<br />

advance stall reservation entry.<br />

<strong>UPHA</strong> Chapter <strong>10</strong> Saddlebred Horse Show, Ledges Sporting Horses<br />

Stable, ASAW, IASPHA, Mid-America Horse Show Association and<br />

Illinois Horse and Pony Breeders Association are not responsible for<br />

any accidents, thefts or damage to property. Neither Sporting Horse<br />

Stable, nor Stable management, will be held responsible in any way for<br />

loss or damage to any persons, animals, property, or equipment that<br />

may be caused by any horse or pony entered by him or due to the<br />

carelessness or negligence of the person or persons in charge of such<br />

horse or pony or of their subordinates.<br />

Novice rider cannot have won 3 blue ribbons prior to the show. Limit<br />

horses cannot have won 6 blue ribbons prior to the show.<br />

3-Gaited Country Pleasure requires English equipment. Horse must be<br />

plain shod. No pads, bands or any substance between hoof and shoe.<br />

Saddle & Bridle Shatner ASB Western Pleasure – See USA Equestrian<br />

rules. (A minimum of three horses must be shown to qualify.)<br />

Saddle & Bridle ASB Hunter Seat Classic – See USA Equestrian<br />

Rules. A jump of no more than 2 feet may be asked of participants;<br />

this will be at the judge’s discretion. (A minimum of three horses must<br />

be shown to qualify.)<br />

3-Gaited Park Pleasure, Open horses are ineligible to show in the<br />

Pleasure Division at the same show, except they may show in In-Hand<br />

or Model classes. Shown at a flat walk, trot and canter. Horses must<br />

stand quietly and back readily in line-up.<br />

<strong>UPHA</strong> Challenge Cup – See USA Equestrian Rules. (No minimum<br />

rider requirements.)<br />

Saddle & Bridle Pleasure Medallion – See USA Equestrian Rules. (A<br />

minimum of three horses must be shown to qualify.)<br />

Walk-Trot <strong>10</strong> & Under exhibitors may only participate in Walk-Trot <strong>10</strong><br />

& Under classes offered at the same show.


Showmanship at Halter – See IASPHA Rulebook. Showmanship is<br />

open to all suited and academy exhibitors in their respective attire.<br />

Classic Pleasure – See IASPHA Rulebook.<br />

Working Pleasure Class – See IASPHA Rulebook.<br />

Training Class – Open to all pleasure horses. To be shown under<br />

saddle at the walk, trot and canter. Snaffle bridle is optional. Horse is<br />

not eligible to show in any other class.<br />

Championship Classes – Open to horses which have been shown in a<br />

qualifying class in their respective division.<br />

PARKING<br />

The use of the parking parcel to the north of the property is allowed.<br />

All vehicles and trailers shall park in a uniformed manner in the<br />

parking parcels only. No camping will be permitted on the parking<br />

parcels. No vehicle access shall be permitted to the parking parcels<br />

from Equine Drive. No emptying or loading of trailers will be<br />

permitted on Arena Drive.<br />

ACADEMY RULES<br />

1. Lead Line: Riders will be led in at a walk and worked each way of the ring.<br />

The riders will be individually trotted past the judge. Riders are expected to<br />

post, but correct diagonals are NOT required. Class will be judged.<br />

2. Academy Pleasure: To be judged as a normal pleasure class. Backing not<br />

required. SADDLE SEAT PLEASURE must give the appearance of being<br />

a collected Saddle Seat type horse.<br />

3. The patterns for Working Pleasure Classes will be posted in the horse show<br />

office.<br />

4. Attire: Jodhpurs or dark pants, a collared white or colored long sleeve shirt,<br />

tie, jodhpur boots or sturdy shoes. Sweater vest or sweater permitted; no<br />

habits, fitted vests or hats. Helmets are strongly re<strong>com</strong>mended and required<br />

for <strong>10</strong> and under riders.<br />

5. Equipment: Horse must be shown in appropriate saddle (cutback or park<br />

pleasure). Normal academy equipment (i.e. martingales, snaffles, etc.)<br />

permitted in walk-trot and walk-trot-canter classes. No German<br />

martingales in advanced classes. Wraps, shin boots, bell boots and blinkers<br />

permitted.<br />

6. Age of riders is as of December 1, 2007.<br />

7. Walk-trot riders may only enter walk-trot equitation and/or walk-trot<br />

pleasure classes. Walk-trot-canter riders may only enter walk-trot-canter<br />

equitation and/or walk-trot-canter pleasure classes. Riders may not crossenter.<br />

Helmets are required for all <strong>10</strong> and under riders.<br />

8. Trophies for first place; ribbons first place through eighth place.<br />

9. Academy classes will close after 26 entries per class have been received (2<br />

splits of 13). Mail your entries on time.

A new sponsorship program will be introduced at the <strong>UPHA</strong> Chapter<br />

<strong>10</strong> Spring Show. A bronze sponsorship of $50 will sponsor the class of<br />

your choice. A silver sponsorship of $<strong>10</strong>0 will sponsor the class of<br />

your choice for $50 and enable a payout of $50 for the class. A gold<br />

sponsorship of $150 will sponsor the class for $50 and enable a payout<br />

of $<strong>10</strong>0 for the class. Please indicate your choice of sponsorship on the<br />
