SHOW RULES & REGULATIONS
FEES: Stalls - $65.00/weekend
Classes - $20.00
Championships - $25.00
Office Fee - $10/rider
This show is judged under the USA Equestrian rules, which are
available for inspection in the show office.
Copy of registration papers must be available for horses entered in the
show. A copy of current UPHA membership card is requested with
entry.
Age of riders is as of December 1, 2007.
Show management reserves the right to cancel or combine classes due
to the number of entries per class. Academy classes will be closed
after 26 entries per class have been received (2 splits of 13). Mail
your entries on time.
Two-minute gate hold between classes will be enforced. The gate
person should be notified of tack changes at least 4 classes before
needed.
Age of division riders: Jr. – 13 & Under, 14-17
Sr. – 18-38, 39 and over
Walk-Trot – 10 & under (may not show in any other mounted classes.)
All dogs must be kept on a leash.
Stalls are available after 12 Noon Friday by entry form reservation
only. Stalls will cost $65.00 per weekend from Friday evening through
Sunday. No single-day rates and NO STRAW BEDDING. NO
OUTSIDE BEDDING ALLOWED. No stall reservations by phone.
NO REFUNDS ON STALLS. Open check required at check in.
Camper hook-ups are available at $50 for the weekend. Make
reservations at time of entry. Payment for camper hook up is
payable at time of entry.
Entries close April 18, 2008 for this show. Any entries postmarked
after entry form closing date will be assessed a $10/class post entry
fee. Return the enclosed entry registration and stall reservation form
with stall payment to insure: (1) a stall, (2) advance entry in classes (3)
guarantee tab at show, and (4) camper hook up.

Entries made at the gate are considered late entries and will be assessed
the post entry fee of $30. Scratches at the gate are non-refundable.
NOTICE: Illinois law requires a negative Coggins within the last
twelve months for each horse. Please send a copy ahead with
advance stall reservation entry.
UPHA Chapter 10 Saddlebred Horse Show, Ledges Sporting Horses
Stable, ASAW, IASPHA, Mid-America Horse Show Association and
Illinois Horse and Pony Breeders Association are not responsible for
any accidents, thefts or damage to property. Neither Sporting Horse
Stable, nor Stable management, will be held responsible in any way for
loss or damage to any persons, animals, property, or equipment that
may be caused by any horse or pony entered by him or due to the
carelessness or negligence of the person or persons in charge of such
horse or pony or of their subordinates.
Novice rider cannot have won 3 blue ribbons prior to the show. Limit
horses cannot have won 6 blue ribbons prior to the show.
3-Gaited Country Pleasure requires English equipment. Horse must be
plain shod. No pads, bands or any substance between hoof and shoe.
Saddle & Bridle Shatner ASB Western Pleasure – See USA Equestrian
rules. (A minimum of three horses must be shown to qualify.)
Saddle & Bridle ASB Hunter Seat Classic – See USA Equestrian
Rules. A jump of no more than 2 feet may be asked of participants;
this will be at the judge’s discretion. (A minimum of three horses must
be shown to qualify.)
3-Gaited Park Pleasure, Open horses are ineligible to show in the
Pleasure Division at the same show, except they may show in In-Hand
or Model classes. Shown at a flat walk, trot and canter. Horses must
stand quietly and back readily in line-up.
UPHA Challenge Cup – See USA Equestrian Rules. (No minimum
rider requirements.)
Saddle & Bridle Pleasure Medallion – See USA Equestrian Rules. (A
minimum of three horses must be shown to qualify.)
Walk-Trot 10 & Under exhibitors may only participate in Walk-Trot 10
& Under classes offered at the same show.

Showmanship at Halter – See IASPHA Rulebook. Showmanship is
open to all suited and academy exhibitors in their respective attire.
Classic Pleasure – See IASPHA Rulebook.
Working Pleasure Class – See IASPHA Rulebook.
Training Class – Open to all pleasure horses. To be shown under
saddle at the walk, trot and canter. Snaffle bridle is optional. Horse is
not eligible to show in any other class.
Championship Classes – Open to horses which have been shown in a
qualifying class in their respective division.
PARKING
The use of the parking parcel to the north of the property is allowed.
All vehicles and trailers shall park in a uniformed manner in the
parking parcels only. No camping will be permitted on the parking
parcels. No vehicle access shall be permitted to the parking parcels
from Equine Drive. No emptying or loading of trailers will be
permitted on Arena Drive.
ACADEMY RULES
1. Lead Line: Riders will be led in at a walk and worked each way of the ring.
The riders will be individually trotted past the judge. Riders are expected to
post, but correct diagonals are NOT required. Class will be judged.
2. Academy Pleasure: To be judged as a normal pleasure class. Backing not
required. SADDLE SEAT PLEASURE must give the appearance of being
a collected Saddle Seat type horse.
3. The patterns for Working Pleasure Classes will be posted in the horse show
office.
4. Attire: Jodhpurs or dark pants, a collared white or colored long sleeve shirt,
tie, jodhpur boots or sturdy shoes. Sweater vest or sweater permitted; no
habits, fitted vests or hats. Helmets are strongly recommended and required
for 10 and under riders.
5. Equipment: Horse must be shown in appropriate saddle (cutback or park
pleasure). Normal academy equipment (i.e. martingales, snaffles, etc.)
permitted in walk-trot and walk-trot-canter classes. No German
martingales in advanced classes. Wraps, shin boots, bell boots and blinkers
permitted.
6. Age of riders is as of December 1, 2007.
7. Walk-trot riders may only enter walk-trot equitation and/or walk-trot
pleasure classes. Walk-trot-canter riders may only enter walk-trot-canter
equitation and/or walk-trot-canter pleasure classes. Riders may not crossenter.
Helmets are required for all 10 and under riders.
8. Trophies for first place; ribbons first place through eighth place.
9. Academy classes will close after 26 entries per class have been received (2
splits of 13). Mail your entries on time.

The management of the show cautions all exhibitors to
demonstrate good manners and sportsmanship at all of our horse
shows. Exhibitors in classes and other associated guests on the
grounds are expected to practice the rules of common courtesy.
Show management reserves the right to excuse anyone from the
show grounds who does not demonstrate good conduct. UPHA will
follow all rules pertaining to etiquette and behavior in the current
USA Equestrian Rule Book.

A new sponsorship program will be introduced at the UPHA Chapter
10 Spring Show. A bronze sponsorship of $50 will sponsor the class of
your choice. A silver sponsorship of $100 will sponsor the class of
your choice for $50 and enable a payout of $50 for the class. A gold
sponsorship of $150 will sponsor the class for $50 and enable a payout
of $100 for the class. Please indicate your choice of sponsorship on the
