‘Scat and Tracks’
at nature park
A “Scat and Tracks” wildlife
tracking adventure is
planned for Saturday, March
20, from 8:30-11 a.m. in
the Jackson Nature Park,
located between Floresville
and Stockdale in Wilson
County.
Guides will lead you on
a 1.5-mile hike exploring
the unique topography along
the Cibolo Creek, while
searching for signs of wildlife.
Learn how to identify
animals’ tracks and scat and
what they can tell you about
their unique behaviors. This
event is free, but advance
registration is required.

People student ambassador
program. Kaylynn is the
daughter of Audie and Terry

barbecue dinner
The Poth VFW Post 8555
will hold a barbecued
chicken dinner fund-raiser
Sunday, March 21, from
10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in
the VFW building.
The meal will include a
half a chicken, green beans,
potatoes, coleslaw, bread,
and tea for $7 a plate. There
will also be a bake sale and
silent auction.
Rural schools
plan reunion
The 46th school reunion for
rural schools will be held
Sunday, March 21, from
1:30-6 p.m. in Goerke’s,
located at 1901 Weil Road
in Marion.
This reunion is for those
who attended rural schools
in Comal, Guadalupe, Hays,
Bexar, Kendall, and Wilson
counties. A meal will be
served at 5 p.m. to include
roast beef, potatoes, corn,
green beans, bread, peaches,
tea, and dessert. The “Best
Friends Band” will perform
from 2:30-4:30 p.m.
The cost to attend is $10
per person, friends welcome,
and those attending
may take desserts.

well as Future Stars winner,

Roping event
in Stockdale
The fourth annual “Cowboy
Up for a Cure” benefit
team roping event will be
held Saturday, March 27,
in the Stockdale Chamber
of Commerce Arena, next
to the Stockdale City Park
off S.H. 123. The Relay For
Life of Wilson County sponsors
this event, and proceeds
benefit the fight against
cancer.
Many great prizes will
be awarded for the roping
events. Books open at noon,
and roping starts at 1 p.m.
Mutton bustin’ is also available
for ages 4 to 7 starting
at 10:30 a.m. Other activities
include concessions, a
silent auction, and a visit
from the Wilson County
News’ mascot, Wilson.
There will also be a ropers’
barrel-racing event “just for
kicks.”

This year’s Roundup
Cowboy Gathering, benefiting
the Guadalupe Regional
Medical Foundation, will be

the Rio Cibolo Ranch near
Seguin.
The Western heritage
gathering is hosted by Red
Steagall, a songwriter, cowboy
poet, and singer. Proceeds
from this major fund-raiser
for the Guadalupe Regional
Medical Center will be used
to purchase infant warmers
for the hospital’s new
Maternity Department.

Rose, and Dottsy Dwyer.
