Engineer Walter Knoll establishes the company at the
age of 42. His workforce are his wife and an assistant.
Their first product is a hydrocylone-based filtration
system for grinding machines.
The Fameta industrial trade fair in Stuttgart provides
the company with its breakthrough thanks to the
keen interest shown by machine-tool manufacturers.
An influx of orders calls for expansion and the company
soon outgrows its original premises.
A new building on Schwarzachstrasse offers 900 m²
of space. Today, offices take up most of this area.
A new product is launched: the central system. This
system cleans the cooling lubricants from multiple
machine tools centrally and then pumps the cleaned
cooling lubricants back to the various machine tools.
The benefits are savings on handling, service and
maintenance.
The first compact band filter is sold. The hydrostat
filter HF becomes a best-selling brand in the industry.
Pump manufacturing begins with the screw spindle
pump KTS. The successful pump generates high
pressures of up to 150 bar. Today, over 80,000 units
are in use world-wide.
The vacuum rotation filter VRF is ready for the market.
It cleans fleecelessly, i.e. without using filter consumables.
The company created this product in response
to the demand of industrial users seeking filters with
a minimum of nonwoven fabrics.
On his 75th birthday, Walter Knoll is made a freeman
of the town of Bad Saulgau by the local council and
municipal authority in recognition of his life's work
and services to the community.
The excentric screw pump MX opens up new markets.
It is designed for use in hygiene-sensitive environments
and in the foodstuffs and luxury food
industries, as well as in the chemicals, paints, lacquers
and cosmetics sectors.
The management celebrates a landmark anniversary:
Walter Knoll turns 80 and Jürgen and Matthias Knoll
turn 50.
KNOLL widens its product portfolio to include the
micro filter MicroPur, the centrifuge CA, the vacuum
filter VL. All filters feature energy-efficient control
technology and are valued for their low operating
costs. They remove even the finest particles without
filter consumables.
