Temporary Exhibits 2013
April 1 – 23 Artless Fabrications: Carol Schmold
Seeing the fibre works as intimate extensions of the pages of her
journal, Schmold’s works explore various fibre art techniques and
approaches to image-making. The project began as a self-directed
challenge, motivated by the desire to get back in touch with her artistic
creativity, to explore new techniques in fibre art and discipline herself
to work within an imposed deadline. The result is a visual journal of
her exploration into her creative process, reflecting a personal design
aesthetic and sensibility to materials. This exhibit is sponsored by
Conexus and the Humboldt Area Arts Council, and travels the province
through the Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Councils.
May – August “Hunter of the Prairie Sea”
“Hunter of the Prairie Sea” is a travelling exhibit organized by the Royal
Saskatchewan Museum. Featuring a 10-metre-long marine reptile called
a tylosaur, this exhibit aims to educate visitors on the discovery of the
tylosaur skeleton and reveal what the environment in Saskatchewan was over 70 million years ago.
Educational tour packages are available for these exhibits – please call the museum to book your tour!
CULTURAL
Original Humboldt
The Original Humboldt site is a scenic 80 acres of land located 8 kilometers southwest of Humboldt where the
original Humboldt Telegraph Station was built in 1878. The significance of the land is multifaceted, as it played an
important role in the national story of communications, transportation, 1885 Resistance, First Nations relations and
the settlement of Saskatchewan. Original Humboldt is located 8km west on HWY #5 and 3km south on Telegraph
Road.
Join us to make history on June 12th at 1:30 pm at the Original Humboldt Site
We’ll be unveiling new art installations that replicate historic features of the Original Humboldt Site. Watch for
