On Tuesday, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver<br />

banned Sterling for life from the league and issued a<br />

$2.5 million fine, the maximum amount allowed under<br />

the NBA constitution, in response to racist remarks<br />

Sterling made in a recorded conversation.<br />

Silver is urging the NBA Board of Governors to<br />

force the sale of the L.A. Clippers team.<br />

Meet El Rodeo’s PTA<br />

President Marjaneh Manavi<br />

and Vice President Linda<br />

Jankowski<br />

Marjaneh Manavi previously owned<br />

a consulting business before becoming<br />

a full time mom and PTA member. She<br />

was first involved in El Rodeo’s PTA<br />

when her daughter was in the first grade<br />

in 2005. Manavi participated in the sock<br />

drive, which was a service learning activity<br />

for first graders, and has been involved<br />

in community service and service learning<br />

throughout the years.<br />

“My goal is to work very closely with<br />

the parents, teachers, and administration<br />

to make sure that we are better serving<br />

all the students at El Rodeo,” Manavi told<br />

the Weekly. “Our focus is really on the<br />

students.”<br />

Manavi’s other goals included working<br />

closely with the Beverly Hills Education<br />

Foundation to help raise funds “to fill the<br />

gaps that we may have in the future as far<br />

This is to give notice that on Friday, May 16, 2014, the City will hold a public<br />

hearing beginning at 10:00 AM to consider:<br />

A request for a determination of Public Convenience or Necessity to allow<br />

the sale of alcohol (beer, wine, and wine tasting) from the property located<br />

at 9400 S. Santa Monica Boulevard (Héritage Fine Wines). Pursuant<br />

to Section 23958.4 of the California Business and Professions Code, the<br />

City of Beverly Hills is required to make a determination as to whether<br />

allowing the sale of alcohol from the subject location would serve the public<br />

convenience or necessity.<br />

This project has been assessed in accordance with the authority and criteria<br />

contained in the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), the State<br />

CEQA Guidelines, and the environmental regulations of the City. The project<br />

qualifies for a Class 1 Categorical Exemption for minor alterations to an existing<br />

commercial building, and the project has been determined not to have a<br />

significant environmental impact and is exempt from the provisions of CEQA.<br />

Any interested person may attend the meeting and be heard or present written<br />

comments to the City.<br />

According to Government Code Section 65009, if you challenge the City’s action<br />

in court, you may be limited to raising only those issues you or someone else<br />

raised at the public hearing described in this notice, or in written correspondence<br />

delivered to the City, either at or prior to the public hearing.<br />
