Former Netherlands Parliament member<br />
and former Netherlands Secretary of State for<br />
Defense Abraham Stemerdink is searching<br />
for Chaja and Sheda Braunhut who attended<br />
Beverly High, possibly in the early 1970s.<br />
When Stemerdink was six years old in<br />
1942, he had a friend named Abraham<br />
Braunhut who died in the Sobibor concentration<br />
camp. Braunhut’s father, Saul Aron<br />
Braunhut escaped from another concentration<br />
camp and immigrated to the U.S.<br />
According to Stemerdink, Braunhut passed<br />
away in 1962 in Beverly Hills.<br />

Former Hawthorne art teacher Elizabeth Federman designed and painted the new<br />
mural in Hawthorne’s edible garden. The garden was funded by the PTA and was<br />
