16-0 victory over Morningside in an Ocean<br />
League softball game at Beverly Hills April<br />

10-run rule.<br />
Recupero (3-6) struck out six and walked<br />
one batter over the first three innings. Costas<br />
struck out five of the six batters she faced in<br />
the final two innings.<br />
Alex Denton and Emma Carruth both<br />
had two hits and drove in two runs for the<br />
Normans, who scored eight runs in the first<br />
inning, one in the second, two in the third<br />
and five in the fourth.<br />

Recupero (4-6) pitched a no-hitter, striking<br />
out 15 and walking five, in an Ocean League<br />
game at Inglewood April 22 shortened to six<br />
innings because of the 10-run rule.<br />
Carruth went three for four with two doubles,<br />
driving in five runs. Costas had three<br />
hits, including two triples, and drove in two<br />
runs. Freshman Lena Shapiro had three hits,<br />
including a triple and drove in a run.<br />
The Normans scored once in the first,<br />
twice each in the second, third and fourth<br />
and eight times in the sixth.<br />

Austin Greer won the discus throw with<br />
a throw of 131 feet, 7 inches and the shout<br />
put with a put of 44-6½ to help the Normans<br />
to the victory in a three-way Ocean League<br />
meet last Thursday at Culver City.<br />
Beverly Hills (3-1 in league competition)<br />
athletes won both hurdles races. Sebastian<br />
Torres won the 110 meter high hurdles in<br />
18.0 seconds and Harry Green the 300 intermediate<br />
hurdles in 45.79.<br />
Also winning individual events for the<br />
Normans were long jumper Lucas Brito (19-<br />
6½); 1,600 meter runner Will Ezzard (four<br />
minutes, 42.26 seconds); 800 meter runner<br />
Aaron Karlin (2:13.50); and 400 meter runner<br />
Max Walder (51.57).<br />
Girls’ Track and Field<br />
Culver City 94, Beverly Hills 59,<br />

The Normans won four field events in a<br />
three-way Ocean League meet last Thursday<br />
at Culver City.<br />
Asia Meadows leaped 31-11 to win the<br />
triple jump; Sara Neiman cleared 4-6 to win<br />
the high jump; Nia Nutall won the discus<br />
throw with a throw of 73-1½; and Cari<br />
Downey-Wade won the shot put with a put<br />
of 25-6½.<br />
Boys’ Tennis<br />
Beverly Hills 9, Santa Monica 9<br />
(Beverly Hills wins on games, 81-73)<br />
Ethan Kunin and Adriano Saitta both won<br />
two of three singles sets for the Normans and<br />
Beverly Hills No. 3 doubles teams of Jack<br />
Harris and Jeffrey Lee also won two of three<br />
sets in an Ocean League match Monday at<br />
Santa Monica.<br />
The match was tied 6-6 entering the final<br />
round. Kunin and Saitta both won their sets<br />
as did the Normans No. 2 doubles team of<br />
Justin Dubin and Davis Freeman.<br />
Johnny Barcohana and Saitta won secondround<br />
singles sets for Beverly Hills. The<br />
Harris-Lee team won its second-round set<br />
6-1.<br />
Kunin, the Jonah Malkin-Emilio Yera<br />
and Harris-Lee doubles teams won for the<br />
Normans in the first round, which ended in<br />
a 3-3 tie.<br />
Beverly Hills was ranked third in the<br />
Southern Section Division 2 poll released<br />
Monday.<br />
