Glenvale
On Febuary
2, the Glenvale
Seventhday
Adventist
Church was
graced with
a special visitor
from the
community.
Toowoomba Regional Council Mayor Paul
Antonio showed up to be interviewed
and stayed for the entire worship service.
The popular mayor announced the guest
speaker for the upcoming Mayoral Prayer
Breakfast on May 14.
“We’re delighted to bring Mrs Lindy
Chamberlain-Creighton to Toowoomba for
this special event. Her amazing story of
faith and forgiveness in light of what she’s
been through will inspire us all.”
“It was an honour to be joined by my
friend Mayor Antonio for church today,”
said senior pastor Casey Wolverton. “We
intend to do everything we can help the
council sell out tickets for this important
event.”
Toowoomba’s Prayer Breakfast is widely
considered to be the largest and oldest
Mayoral Prayer Breakfasts in Australia,
attracting more than 800 attendees each
year in recent times.
Students at Avondale
College in 2013
Eleven Glenvale youth continue their
Christian education this year as they study
at Avondale College of Higher Education;
the highest number ever from our
church! They all graduated from Year
12 at Darling Downs Christian School
(DDCS) in recent years, and an additional
five former DDCS students are studying
at Avondale in 2013. Dayn McKay
encouraged many of his friends to share
the Avondale experience with him, and
Jordan, Tegan, Bentley, Lawson and
Claudia (pictured here) are enjoying the
benefits of studying at Avondale too!
Gold Coast
Praise The Lord All Ye
People
The church of TOMORROW continues
to take part in the church of TODAY at the
Gold Coast Central Seventh-day Adventist
Church.
The Gold Coast Central Church was
recently thrilled and privileged to see its
young people again taking the lead in
serving the Lord in worship. The church
boasts a generous number of young
people who love the opportunity to
become involved in sharing their love for
Jesus with others.
Mt Gravatt
The Big Picture For Little
People
On Sabbath March 23, Mt Gravatt
Church Children’s Ministries hosted a
Children’s Agape Feast as children from
Cradle Roll to Earliteens combined with
parents and Sabbath school teachers for
a special morning. Singing, a Lego crucifixion
scene and animated DVD presentations
were designed to open and raise the
children’s understanding of Communion
and the Last Supper. Pastor Zeny Vidacak
led worship and shared the story of the
Jewish Passover and Jesus’ death on the
cross. Tables in the shape of the cross lit
with candles reinforced the sacred message
of Jesus’ sacrifice for all.
The children then shared foot washing
with their parents followed by an
unblessed communion served by the
children’s Sabbath school teachers. The
program finished with a dedication activity
as children nailed their name to a cross in
order to symbolise their love for Jesus.
Hervey Bay
When An Elephant
Becomes Just Too Small
For The Job
The Hervey Bay Primary/Junior Sabbath
school class, having listened intently to
their mission stories, decided they wanted
to help others own Bibles. To that end,
a bank in the shape of an elephant was
found, and each time money was placed
in the bank, the class made a “trumpeting”
sound to show the elephant’s delight!
During the first quarter, the class collected
a total of $73.65 for Bibles. Hoping to
collect more in the second quarter, the
children brought handfuls of coins when
possible, to place in their bank. On 13th
Sabbath, the little elephant was opened
and great care was taken to remove all
the money that had been stuffed inside!
After counting the money, it was found
that the Hervey Bay Primary/Junior class
had collected more than $100.00 on their
own for that quarter. Some of the church
members also felt impressed to contribute
to the cause. The ensuing result A final
total of $208.50 that can be used to assist
those in need of owning a Bible. Since the
project has been such a great success the
children & leaders of Hervey Bay Church
plan to continue this special offering. They
have decided it will certainly be necessary
to bring in a larger bank.
The goal remains; to make it possible
for children and others to own a Bible.
Congratulations on a job well done
Hervey Bay Primary/Junior Sabbath
school class. Congratulations Hervey
Bay Church for supporting and assisting
their young people in this missionary
endeavour.
