A wide variety of learners work towards Accounting and Payroll<br />

qualifications with the East Cheshire Business School. Many learners are<br />

apprentices who work and attend College. Some are employees wanting<br />

to obtain formal qualifications to validate their experience, whilst many<br />

others wish to up-skill or change direction in their careers. The<br />

programmes are run on a part-time basis in the day and evening.<br />

Book Keeping<br />

This part-time Level 1 c<strong>our</strong>se<br />

is aimed at anyone interested<br />

in maintaining accounting<br />

records. It may be suitable for<br />

those who are new to a book<br />

keeping role or those wishing<br />

to set up their own business.<br />

cash and credit sales,<br />

developing record keeping and<br />

processing skills, enabling the<br />

recording of payroll<br />

transactions in a manual and<br />

computerised environment.<br />

processing, employment<br />

legislation for payroll and<br />

calculating gross pay.<br />

Level 2 Award in<br />

Computerised Payroll<br />

The Level 2 Award is suitable<br />

and skills which assist team leaders, first line managers and middle and<br />

senior managers in fulfilling their roles effectively.We can deliver the<br />

a long tradition of offering<br />

Many people chose to learn languages at <strong>Macclesfield</strong> College for business<br />

or professional reasons such as improving or investigating new export<br />

possibilities and other opportunities abroad, customer relations,dealing with<br />

telephone enquiries, entertaining clients and business travel.<br />

is delivered flexibly in College,<br />

with both daytime and evening<br />

GCSE c<strong>our</strong>ses are for those<br />

wanting to improve speaking,<br />

listening, reading and<br />

writing skills who also need<br />

a nationally recognised<br />

qualification. You will learn<br />

how to deal with everyday<br />

business situations.<br />

AS Level in French,<br />

German, Spanish or Italian<br />

AS Level provides more<br />

advanced study of the<br />

language and culture.<br />

You will develop y<strong>our</strong> fluency<br />

and accuracy both in writing<br />

and in the spoken language.<br />

Advanced Conversaon<br />

Classes in French, Spanish<br />

and Italian<br />

Advanced Conversation<br />

classes provide an opportunity<br />

for those who are fairly fluent<br />

in the language or who have<br />

an advanced level and want<br />

to improve and practise their<br />

spoken language.<br />

Duration: 12 weeks<br />

Internaonal Film Evenings<br />

We also run a popular<br />

programme of Cinema and<br />

Cultural evenings in <strong>our</strong><br />

Silk Room Restaurant where<br />

leaners and others come<br />

together to watch a film in<br />

French, German, Spanish,<br />

Italian or Japanese and have<br />

a meal based on that country’s<br />

cuisine.<br />

Five million people in the<br />

UK currently lack functional<br />

literacy and numeracy skills,<br />

which costs employers time<br />

and money.<br />

<strong>Macclesfield</strong> College works in<br />

partnership with employers to<br />

address their employees’ skills<br />

gaps and provides free c<strong>our</strong>ses<br />

which can be delivered<br />

in-house or at College. Each<br />

employee will have different<br />

types of learning needs and will<br />

often have created strategies to<br />

cope with challenging aspects<br />

of work, so that their lack of<br />

skills is minimised or disguised.<br />

Skills for Life classes can be<br />

bespoke to the needs of the<br />

company, i.e. at a time and place<br />

to suit you, and all participants<br />

will gain appropriate, nationally<br />

recognised qualifications up<br />

to Level 2, (equivalent to grade<br />

A*-C at GCSE). We also offer<br />

a full range of evening and day<br />

time classes at College.<br />
