AHA NSW Awards for Excellence 2008 Mercure Sydney The latest acquisition in 2006 was the Citigate Sebel Hotel in Surry Hills, and also the Avillion Hotel, now known as Rydges World Square. In total the Schwartz Family Company Hotel Group composes over 2,222 accommodation rooms, 14 bars, 13 restaurants and 69 gaming machines. We are committed to the highest standards in everything we do. We are very proud of our hotels and of what our wonderful dedicated team has helped us achieve. We hope we are helping them achieve their goals too. 4
AHA NSW Awards for Excellence 2008 Mercure Sydney Best Community Service The Mercure Sydney is the flagship of Dr Schwartz’s hotels. His pub, the Macquarie Hotel has entered and been a finalist for the past 5 years, and last year won the award. He and his team have made it a priority to give back to the community In fact “The Team” spreads further than that and incorporates all the Schwartz Family Company Hotels. This creates an amazing array of organizations that they can support and an even larger group of talented staff who ALL work TOGETHER to benefit a huge variety of organizations. The Schwartz Family Company represents team work at its best! Fundraising and “giving” is a priority and Dr Schwartz is well known as one of the most generous Philanthropists and Humanitarians in Australia. He is a humble and most generous man who is grateful for his parents being given the opportunity to achieve so much in Australia. He has inspired his team to make it their duty and responsibility to become involved in organisations that support the community. The input into community life and service by Dr Schwartz and his Management team is demonstrated here on both a personal level and business level. They have a personal commitment to helping many charities, community and sporting organisations as will be demonstrated in this award. The management team have instilled upon the staff the same fierce desire to get involved in their local community. There have been so many Schwartz Family Company Group initiatives like the ‘Walking for MS’ campaign as well as individual hotel and AHA projects to be proud of. 5
