Timeline of Activities and Events: Include specific dates that you will complete the following
and submit them to your sponsor. Sponsors are responsible for guiding the research, monitoring
performance, and keeping the Education Department Faculty informed of progress. All
proposals must include the following components and specific dates for submission of each.
Dates can be before but may not be any later than dates specified below:
IRB Training and IRB Application if applicable (First week of May, junior year)
Introduction (First week in September, senior year)
Review of the Literature (First week in September, senior year)
Study Design and Methodology Data Collection (First week of February, senior year)
Data Analysis (Last week of March, senior year)
Findings, Outcomes, Implications (Second Week of April )
If any significant changes in activities outlined in the Research Proposal or in dates specified in
the timeline are needed, the candidate must submit a written Revised Research Proposal to the
sponsor who will take the revised Proposal to the Department. The Education Department
faculty will review the Revised Proposal and respond to the candidate within one week. To
continue in the Distinction program, the candidate’s revised Proposal must gain Department
approval.

Student Consent
I understand that I must complete IRB training and gain IRB approval prior to implementing any
project that requires IRB approval. I established this timeline and will adhere to the proposal. If
any modifications are necessary, I will submit a revised proposal to my sponsor and gain
Departmental approval before I continue. Failure to complete tasks as outlined in my proposal
and/or failure to maintain a 3.7 overall GPA could result in dismissal from the Honors Program.
