CHAIRMAN’s WELCOME SPEECH
We take great pleasure to have been given the opportunity to host
Malaysia’s First ASAMI Congress. It is really befitting that this
Congress is being held here in HTAR Klang as without doubt, this
is the hospital dealing with a huge number of patients needing
Ilizarov Surgery. More than 200 patients are treated yearly.
Over the years, we have been able to save the limbs of hundreds of patients who
otherwise would have ended up with complications and amputations. We have
invited renowned international and local speakers to share their expertise and
knowledge with us. We have lined up more than 80 lectures as well as ‘hands on
and saw bone’ demonstration workshop and with more than 20 free paper presentations.
The fundamental objective of this Congress is to further disseminate the
‘principles and application’ of Ilizarov Surgery to our participants in the hope
that more surgeons will be inspired to undertake this speciality.
Last but not least, we wish to thank MOA for their undivided support and our
sponsors and speakers for coming forward whole heartedly to ensure the success
of this Congress 2013.
